i still have the email they sent me when they said they had worked out all the issues from the beta. some months later, we still have the same reload bugs, server disconnects, over-powering enemies, etc. and really, it doesnt do us any good to complain about the issues because whenever we do, the threads get deleted. i would rather see the dlc keep getting pushed back in order to finally fix the issues than play new content that is completely bugged.

Everything that they've done shows that they're trying to bleed money out of you. Hell I'll give you three major examples nerfing the amount of keys you receive from roadside emergencies nerfing the amount of arkfalls that could be done and degrading the loot you receive from bosses. These two things took away major ways for people to receive better gear without having to buy boxes. Trion is in trouble as of right now because they can't figure out a way to make money and attract new players. Honestly if they would properly price the cosmetic items and offer bundle discounts for the in game shop they would be in a whole better place. This game imho won't last longer than three years....if that if they don't do something by either making it fully free to play with an optional sub that gets you a free amount of maxed out keys monthly that offers you a discount on everything you buy from the store.
In truth, the minority is the players who even come to the forums at all. The vast majority of the player base never sets foot here, they're simply playing and enjoying the game. That's the case with most every online game -- the forums tend to be a small, though vocal, minority.
In my view, the minority of this forum is the handful of semi-trolling regulars whose names we all know -- people who clearly dislike the game and/or developers, but still feel compelled to stay. They post the same negativity here over and over, while also doing their best to derail other threads that aren't negative. They are here every day, spreading the hate as if it's their job. Their post counts are in the hundreds, even though some of them haven't even played in months, and some no longer even own the game.
I don't pretend to know their motivations, or why they act as if they have some kind of personal stake or vested interest in hoping a video game fails. Maybe they simply don't have anything better to do, or don't own any games they actually like -- at least not well enough to satisfy them and occupy their time in a more rewarding and enjoyable way. I've played lots of games over the years that I didn't happen to care for personally, but it would never have occurred to me to not only hang around them, but to try to wage some kind of negative propaganda campaign as a part-time job. As a gamer, that just seems like a sad way for someone to spend their time, when so many other options are available.
As you can see by my post count I'm one of the people that happily spends my time in the game playing away and rarely steps out into the forums, but i do spend a little time reading them just to keep abreast of changes and such. Just wanted to give a double thumbs up to this quote as it covers my thoughts and feelings exactly. Well said.
Although your confusion is somewhat shared by me, I have come to understand better why those people stick around. Personally I have stopped playing Defiance regularly. The game held my interest until ~4200 ego, and having 0 pursuits to work towards as well as content that has become stale no longer entices me to log on.
But I still visit the forums, and although I do not spread nearly the level of "Doom and Gloom" as other, I understand why someone might. If they comment on the negative portions of the game maybe the developers will notice a trend and make changes accordingly. It may be wishful thinking on their part, and I agree that their approach leaves a lot to be desired, but it is better than only seeing positive threads from people still in the honeymoon portion of Defiance.
The only thing that truly disappoints me about Defiance is the promise of 5 DLC's before the end of the year for all season pass owners. I purchased the season pass, and judging by their first DLC release will not be seeing 1-2 of those promised DLC's for quite some time.
Also OT, your title says it all when it comes to my current mentality regarding Defiance. Logging in to see that the only new outfits and vehicles in the store are re-skins is truly depressing. I bought $50 worth of bits when they were giving double bits, and have only used ~2000 of the 10k purchased due to the store having nearly no unique options. The last outfit I have truly liked was the Star Trek esque Field Engineer outfit.
I have played this game since beta and rarely was booted out as often as i am now.im still playing because i hope the problems get fixed.as it is now after getting kicked off four times in a row i go beta test ffxvi for awhile and come back.i just wonder what my ego score would be if i actually got to play all the way through the arkfalls ive been booted out of. i still like the game but before i put more money into bits i have to be sure the game will last not to mention improve.
