The big indicators that something is more powerful than other things is its widespread use in PvP and what people pay to get one. Sometimes the last thing isn't as important as the first, because people may tend to think a certain weapon is more cool or more fun to use and its drawbacks can be overcome. So, they may pay more for things that offer some real vulnerabilities.

The most overpowered weapon in PvP in this game is the Immunizer, and I'm not even talking about a fully modded one or even one with great bonuses.

Compare it to any other weapon and you kind of understand why people will say this. Every other weapon in the game has maybe some feature that makes it powerful-might have more with the right bonuses. But every other weapon also has some very big downsides-slow to fire, slow to reload, limited mag, need to have spot on aim, and so on-things that leave the shooter vulnerable. You can use perks that lessen the vulnerabilities but they don't remove them.

The Immunizer doesn't just have one powerful feature, it has many. There was a discussion I overheard last night about it where someone said it only works on people out in the open and so if you're out in the open you deserve it. But that's false.

The Immunizer has sniper range and homing. Basically, within reason if you can see someone, you can kill them with the Immunizer and they will never see it coming. And you don't have to be a good aim. It can home in on an already attacked target even when that player is out of the line of sight.

It will hit cloaked people bringing them virtually out of cloak.

    It does tick (bug) damage.

It spawns bugs that damage nearby opposing players.

    It blinds the affected person.

    It requires no skill.

Other things when added on can make it worse. It can be made fully automatic by adding on a +1 burst.

Other mods may also help and bonus rolls and EGO perks only add to its lethality.

Someone said Detonators are really no different but that's so not true. Detonators are slow to fire, have limited mags, and limited range. They also all but announce the fact if you don't get out of the way you'll get hit. Sure they can be enhanced to be more lethal, but it's totally possible to avoid being hit by the grenades. With Immunizers if you cannot instantly tell where the shooter is and get out of range, you'll be dead. And cover will not help you.

@ Indra Echo: are you sure you know the difference between an Infector and an Immunizer? Because all points you discribed is what Infectors do, Immunizers don't spawn bugs and don't blind the affected person his sight.

The gun shoots needles. The needles infect you. The bugs gestate within you before spawning. Does he think the gun shoots bugs at people?

Like Echo discribed it he's talking like they all grow bugs and block sights, i've only heard of two types of Immunizers, one with growths and one without, nothing else.

People are mad at infectors because they don't know how to defend against them. Some people have it figured out, most don't.

its funny that all the people that use infectors defend it. i wouldn't defend anything. they can nerf whatever they want and i'll just adjust to it. i find it funny how people can actually have fun using infectors. cause i don't see how

The only consistant defenses I know of are BMG, sniper, close range syphon weapons and maybe a SAW from medium range with syphon. Or just by having a better infector type gun than others.

Each has its own problem. BMG really only saves you from DOT and bugs after the infector is dead, plus it forces the user to carry the lowest DPS weapon in the game vs way better options. So now the user is gimped against other true skill type players.

    Syphon is luck.

Better infector just adds to the problem.

That leaves sniper and SAW. The counter to the lowest skill gun to use is the one that requires one of the highest...if not the highest....to use? Yeah that is fair.

So is your magical answer a SAW. Or SAW/BMG? So the answer is that is the combo we are forced to run?

I honestly don't have many issues with infectors. But my solution is one of the problems.....a better infector. However I highly prefer to run tacmag and sniper or tacmag and sludge.
