I have been a loyal and devoted player/watcher of Defiance since the game/show launched. I play, on average four to six hours a day, everyday. But, regardless of my loyalty, because I am not a US resident I am exempt from taking part in the most significant crossover event to date. This I find very insulting.
There is no doubt in my mind that I would never even come close to winning but to not even be given the chance to try is a major slap in the face.

I know it sucks and I'm sorry. But it is an American made show.
Even though the contest has no monetary value, they still have to obey contest laws in running it. Doing that for one country is annoying--doing it for the entire world is impossible.
I feel your pain, OP... and hell, I'm kind of miffed there isn't enough time in the day outside of work and other IRL things for me to even have a slim shot at entering a contest that's set up like this one.

If the people behind Defiance have an issue with US laws, then make it 3 contests at the same time. US, EU and Asia? Heck, make it 9, 3 continents, 3 platforms. How hard can it be to write in 9 persons in a group to appear rather than the one? Make it 9 persons over 9 episodes, OR make it a a gang of 9 raiders, I don’t know? A little imagination and they could to so much more...

If they continue to think small = making 4th of July armor, contest that is US only they will lose the EU and Asia gamers. And I personally don’t think "US only" is a market they can survive on...

Er.... it's a bit more complex than that, they have to hire and pay the actors that will portray your character which could get ridiculously expensive with so many. And they said whoever is choosing the winner might not pick number one it's out of the top ten or something based on their "artistic needs" which I take to mean, not a character with a ******ed *** name. I.e. monkeyslapper1010, pwndindafacenoob, capt. Stankyweed, etc...

I hope the DLCs are good. No one outside the US has any impetus to play through to the next season aside from the updates.
Don't get me wrong, I expect this behaviour from a US company, but it was insulting to have a competition blasted out on the EU server patch screen which stated in small print that I couldn't enter it. Now that was insulting, and rubbing our noses in it at that.
The show is made in Toronto with a mostly most of the cast from all over the world. The only thing American about it is SiFy. -Beck Altar
