They didn't spend that much on the carrier, if it was to sold for IRL money the value would equal $8,000. (and if it was sold for IRL cash, the accounts involved would be banned and the ship removed from the game.)

Several years ago, my old corp (FRICK) was camping a choke point (it was either PF-346 or EC-P8R) when a blockade runner jumped into our warp bubble on the gate we was camping.. The result was the ship was filled with several T2 blueprint originals, hundreds of copies and a ton of T2 parts, the value was about $20,000.
I believe shortly after one of our allies hit a freighter worth about $40,000.. The additional result of both ships was the players quit the game due to the massive losses.

But even so, that is a massive ouch plus it would be worth more as they haven't taken into account what mods was fitted and such.

I found the kill mail for the ship HERE. Also chatting to a folks I know who still play Eve, he paid 320 billion ISK for the ship and the loss in equipment was valued at 10.7 billion ISK.

Holy crap. I didn't even take into consideration when my friend said that stuff on EVE was worth grandz in IRL cash that they could actually be lost.
This makes me laugh maniacally. : ]

Pretty much the reason I stopped playing EVE. I lost my 400 mill. ISK (only) ship and just said jek it. This is both what makes EVE great and a pain in the ***. Love that there are a real penalty for dying. Well unless it happens to you . 320 billion ISK, man that a lot, even if you are in one of the great corps.

Star Citizen isnt even in Alpha yet and there are people who have spent over ten thousand bucks for space ships and a concierge service for that game(concierge is at 1k).
