So it brings this question to mind, why is trion even bothering to bring in tie in content?, because honestly the content is bad anyway why not just add the stuff that's needed to make this game better, enjoyable etc.
For some unknown reason the game was never supposed too look like the show ever!?.

    PANDORA'S BOX SYNDROME

The devs of the show made this interesting diverse world where aliens live among each other in civil rivalry, and the city they live in is being re-built from the ground up and is under constant threat from outsiders, Volge, E-Rep etc.

So what I'm getting at is why bother showing us this amazing tv show and then saying we can't have any of the good stuff in the game?!, but it's annoying because if I had never seen the show I wouldn't want this stuff in the game and I would just quite end of but because I can see how great the game can actually become because of things that can be extracted from the show and put into the game.

If we had a city and there was more tie in content we could take part in the events for example protecting the city from the volge.

    Yours Sincerely GC DakotaHeart
Okay, either you've missed the out on the tie-in content, missed the lore, or more importantly the point.

First off Defiance is where the former city of St. Louis is now, on the other side of the Badlands away from the most concentrated area of ark fall material on the North American continent, the former San Francisco Bay area. Now if you look at the scenery around the area there are farms and other places trying to start the ground work for building a city, a community in the area, but the constant threats: raiders, hellbugs (in abundance), EMC mutants, and numerous other deadly obstacles have made this progress slow going.

The Bay area is kind of like California during the Gold Rush in the 40s, there is profit to be made but it's dangerous work. So only little area pop up here and there to service 'civil' needs over established towns, for the moment.

As for scenery, the show and game do a great job in having items made of the same materials, the same style of rag-tag construction, and various animals and flora when they are amongst the Badlands element or town in general. The only thing that feels out of place imo is the weaponry, they use standard armament in the show except for Nolan, which they try to explain by saying he's an ark hunter, a scavenger.

The two tie together beautiful within their own frame work in the universe they have created, so honestly I don't understand your request from this thread or the last.

    And as for tie-in content:

    - Mention of Mirin as location to latest baddie on the show
    - Hellbugs
    - Plague
    - The opening scene with the 'what-ma-call-it' for the terra sphere
    - Data Recorders that tie characters in-game with the show
    - Rynn cross over
    - Name dropping enemies from game in the show, sometimes with some humor
    - Name dropping NPCs from the game into the show, sometimes with a hint of things to come in-game

If your playing the game you get much more out of the show, an understanding of how deadly and sparse the world is the show takes place in. Understanding of names and locations mentioned in the show that over viewers may not understand til much much later if at all.

To Omnicron: Yeah you are probably right with that tie-in reference, I just don't agree with it I guess. If they truly do like you say, and make the character an E-Rep representative from the game to the show, I would refuse it to be my character honestly. I don't really participate in the challenge hour stuff anyway, I have fun with the game the way it is. If I wanted to play something competitively I would certainly play something other than Defiance. I just think that's kinda messed up. The E-Rep doesn't really ever have any notorious intentions in the game. I guess outside of the first area you don't see them too often, but still. They are f*****s in the show and that's not how I would want my character to be associated with the lore of the world.
Amanda Rosewater was once part of the E-Rep machine, she left as she felt they were not doing right by the people, she saw the corruption within. There are probably more people like this in the E-Rep, but the E-Rep has a desire for Defiance due to the nature of what they believe lies there: power of alien technology. When governments with military power want something they tend to get it and without a source to balance that power they will have little to no resistance. I mean the E-Rep seems like a militant government that while 'at peace' with the Votan Collective is more interested in making sure if they need to fight again they have everything they need to win, a culture of paranoia and fear versus the Defiance one of hope and understanding.

Also the E-Rep in the game are no saints, yea you get points to bail them out of stuff, but the missions they give you typically involve consolidating ground for defense or tactical purposes. And in one case they have you gather and destroy potentially damning information regarding early EMC (pre E-Rep) experiments or actions. I believe Capt. Grant comes from the 'Defiant Few' school of thought, if you see the note it states he gave up promotions to stay in the field, why would he do this? I believe cause he feels it is where he could most make a difference. His interaction with you 'the Ark Hunter' do not change based on your race, he judges you first on your profession and employer then changes his standing as he sees you serving the greater good.

E-Rep is a mixed bag, not a bunch of saints but certainly not all the demons either.

I'm sorry but you've pointed out the smallest details in my eyes, The way the show looks compared too the game even the tie in content blows ***! I enjoyed the sieges but there weren't "Zombies" in the tv show everyone was just dieing. And the hellbugs?! they look like something my 13 year old cousin would watch on the disney channel.

Defiance needs a city, please Trion.

The Tv-Series should've looked, and played out more like the game in my opinion. Now it's a pretty boring soapopera-ish sci-fi show.

This is what the TV-series should've looked like:

    Osmund - EU - PC

I agree. But the thing is that Defiance the show is like a family drama / western. Defiance the game is all action / post apocalyptic.

I hope the show creators work closely with the game for season 2, throw more references to the game in and use more of the fashion/weaponry from the game.

I imagine that the entire premise of game to tv program tie in was the brain child of the marketing department. Which would explain why, essentially, there is no substance to either. Each one is just a marketing tool for the other, leading consumers to toggle between each looking for sustenance that is not there.

Defiance is a slight of hand trick by marketers to milk the teats of your bank account dry.

As far as things 'look' in the show compared to the game, is all apparently part of the story. I'd suggest taking a look at the Defiance.com 'lore'.

Everything is different because when the Arks mysteriously blew up, and the terraformers scattered all over, it all ended up extremely random, instead of controlled. (For example, Florida became a Quarantine zone because of extreme dangerous changes and radiation.)

    EXACTLY!

That was the very first thing I ever saw of Defiance, so I thought that this was what the show was going to be like. Hopefully Season two will take more of that path. I think the game has a better look, feel, and story in comparison to the show. I could go in detail why I dislike the show, but I don't want to rant.
I watched all the episodes but for me I wouldn't place Defiance on my top ten TV show list. :/
