Defiance, everything you need to know

This post is out-dated, information is pretty accurate but I need to update it.
    " Defiance "

Trion Worlds (The Makers of Rift) and Syfy Channel (That Channel with terrible movies) are making a MMO with a TV Show to go with it. Allegedly both the show and game are supposed to offer a side by side in some form to bring about a dual media apocalypse to everyone.

    - Story -
The series is set in the near future, where aliens known collectively as Votans have come to Earth seeking a new home after their solar system was destroyed. However, upon reaching Earth they found that they were not welcome. The Votans waited in orbit for six years as prolonged negotiations with Earth governments for settlement on the planet ultimately proved fruitless. With supplies on their ships running low, eventually in desperation the Votans began a war with humans to force the issue and make Earth their new home. During the war, Votan ships shot down by human militaries accidentally released terraformer technology, which made haphazard and radical changes to the biosphere and even the geology of Earth, making the planet dangerous to both humans and the aliens. The earth was scorched, chasms opened in the ground, and the surface of the planet was covered with dust and debris. After decades of war, both sides had fought to the point of mutual exhaustion, and a ceasefire was declared. Few organized governments remained for either the humans or the aliens, and both sides factionalized as their members began looking out for themselves. In several areas, local human and Votan militias began to band together when they realized that they had to cooperate if they hoped to survive on this new almost alien planet.

After the Arkfall, the city of St. Louis was destroyed by aggressive terramorphing. Only the Gateway Arch and the tops of a few skyscrapers remain in the remade landscape, jutting from a valley surrounded by new-Earth mountains. This secure position drew the allied human and Votan settlers who would found Defiance. Taking shelter in the exposed skyscrapers, the founders quickly discovered that the surrounding mountains were rich with Votan ore. As word spread, opportunists came flooding to the city, building as fast as they could using any materials they could find. Walking down Main Street in Defiance, visitors might see a storefront of rough-cut lumber next to a home made from pieces of Ark wreckage. Life is not always (or often) safe under the Arch, and the city faces horrific threats from the outside and within. But human and Votan alike, the people of Defiance stand united to show the world that peace and cooperation are the gateway to civilization’s future. The town has quickly become a symbol of hope in this new frontier.

In June 2011, Syfy announced that they would be producing a television series which was being developed by Rockne S. O'Bannon and would be produced by Universal Cable Productions. It was also announced that the TV series would be connected to a video game being produced by Trion Games. It was later confirmed that SyFy had ordered thirteen episodes for the show's first season, which would premiere in either late 2012 or the summer of 2013. In July 2012, the network announced that the series and game would debut in April 2013.

Casting announcements began in January 2012 with Grant Bowler first to be cast. Bowler plays Jeb Nolan, "the law keeper in a bustling frontier boomtown that is one of the new world's few oasis of civility and inclusion." On February 8th, TVWise revealed profiles of five of the main characters. It was later reported that Gillian Anderson had been briefly considered by the show's producers to play either Amanda or Stahma, however, that casting did not move forward as they assumed she would not be interested in returning to episodic television. On March 8, 2012 it was announced that Jaime Murray, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas and Tony Curran has been cast in the series. Jaime Murray plays Stahma Tarr "Datak’s beautiful and proper wife", Julie Benz plays Amanda Rosewater, the mayor of Defiance, Stephanie Leonidas plays Irisa, "a beautiful warrior who is part of an alien race called the Irathients" and Tony Curran plays Datak Tarr, "the right hand to Amanda."

Production on the series began in April 2012 in Toronto.

The series largely revolves around the character of Jeb Nolan. Jeb was only ten years old when the Votans arrived and he served in the military during the war. With the war now over, he returns to his hometown of St. Louis to find that its is no longer the city he left; it is little more than a refugee camp. Deciding that his services are needed, Jeb takes up a position as the Chief Lawkeeper in Defiance, so he can protect the town from dangerous clashes between humans and aliens, military scavengers and other dangerous visitors who occasionally enter the town.

Pursuits are challenges for players to complete. Once a set of pursuit parameters are complete you receive a EGO level increase, and any possible rewards listed with the pursuit. It's a good idea to check often the progress of your pursuits to ensure faster EGO rating increases, and any rewards you might be close to unlocking.

When you have been snared by a spill which slows down movement to almost a stand still, quickly use double B (dodge) once or twice to remove the debuff, and continue at normal running speed.

    - Known Currencies -

Scrip is the global used money, and is award on mission completes and dropped by fallen enemy NPC's.

Scrap is gathered by fallen enemy NPC's as loot, or by going into the Salvage matrix, and breaking that item into Scrap resources. What is Scrap used for? It's the main currency for modifying your weapons. Such as adding additional Mod slots to a un-equipped weapon in your inventory (beware there is a 10 minute timer to add a random mod slot to a weapon in the beta)

Bits, Only way to obtain these are by some promotion by Trion or by purchasing them via Microsoft points and using these Bits in the Defiance Store menu as the only usable currency in that store.
Currently unknown on prices for purchasing bits as of yet.

Than we have Key codes, these babies are your keys to open random tier boxes from a world vendor merchant who trades random items for your completed keys plus some Scrip. or you could use Bits to automatically purchase random tier boxes, and not deal with doing events and instances to generate key codes which take 8 parts to create a single key to use in the store.

Echelon credits, which is the PvP reward currency. Echelon credits can be traded in for special gear when players participate in the Shadow War PvP as hired Shadow Operatives for either of the rival factions. Echelon credits were named as such since these are awarded by Echelon, a private and powerful military group in the Defiance world.

There are possibly more currency's which I will add later as I know more details.

    - Player GUI -
    - Top Left
EGO current level followed by created character name

Yellow bar displays current xp progress to next EGO unit unlock.

Shield health is displayed under xp progress. Once shield is depleted user experiences a "Call of Duty" red screen when closer to death. If player remains in a safe location long enough shield and health will regenerate to full again.

White box with character inside is your displayed reincarnation cool down icon. The moment your shield and health are depleted you are capable of self reviving your character at the expense of your single reincarnation, or team mate or anyone near you can revive you without the cost of your reincarnation, but if you use your reincarnation it will after use slowly regenerates for use again if you so happen to lose shield and health again. In case you don't have a reincarnation available when you go down into a death state, only a team mate or local bystander can revive you. Once you die you will take a Scrip loss of 5% of your total amount. (% Could change)

Three red blocks - Health gauge, Can be increased with perks, and items. Could also be possibly raised by EGO level (unknown if it does)

    - Top Right
Title shows your current location on the map.
    Mini-map shows
    Light purple as Players.
    Greyish purple as NPC's.
Red colors are enemy players (PVP) or enemy NPC.
White circles mean two things. Vendors or Player Vehicle.
Green dots are group members or pvp team mates.
Chained purple dots are your waypoint set in world pane as a GPS for fastest travel to destination.

    - Bottom Left
Your current Scrip (Currency) amount, and complete key codes 0/1 etc.
Your cool down timers for equipped Skill, Grenade and Vehicle
Followed by equipped weapons ammunition in magazine, amount remaining, and current proficiency xp bar for leveling currently equipped weapon (adds bonus stats to weapon when leveled)

    - Bottom Right
Chat pane, current events, party joins, leaves, etc.
Followed by current chat selected (use Down on D Pad to see which chat you are apart of)

That should cover the in-game GUI reasonably. I will clean it up soon.

I won't explain Map or Inventory menu's they are pretty straight forward to understand. (unless enough feedback wants it)

    - DLC Info -
Trion has posted details on a season pass for Defiance, $39.99 and enable access to the game's first five DLC packs, which will include a new playable alien species, along with lots of new weapons, vehicles, missions, and other rewards. Plus, pass buyers get two bonus items: a digital Hellbug combat cap, and an extra Lock Box (which is a sealed container in the game for a chance at another item).

The $39.99 is in addition to the game's initial purchase price ($59.99, or $99.99 for the deluxe edition. The Super duper gamestop 149.99 edition comes with the 1 year season pass.). Defiance won't have a subscription fee, and this price is 20 percent off what the DLC will cost in total.

    - Work in progress -
So much to add so just give me time to update this sucker with everything overflowing from my brain.

Yea, but when you hit the defiance forums. Your first step isn't the Defiance wiki's, and the only post I've seen just has a bunch of links that aren't extremely useful.
