borderlands is prob my favorite game up there with gears of war series. the graphics and humor, while a turn off to some, are what drew me to the game. i love the gameplay, loot system, and level progression. i didnt play the beta but from videos i liked what i say. a not better but different graphic version of borderlands with multiplayer would be fantastic!

the one thing that over time will kill the borderlands universe is lack of multiplayer. grinding for loot while fun, isnt a long term solution for replay value. i know defiance has a few versions of multiplayer which is music to my ears.but i hope enough time, detail and content were put into it to keep players around. 1,000 people on a map in defiance doesnt even matter when it comes to the story cause only up to 4 can do missions...multiplayer pvp i think is gonna determine the lifespan of this game, cause it already did the same to borderlands

never played borderlands, but played a bit of defiance in the beta..

then i thought, hey i need a game to fill the waiting time...

and saw borderlands on sale... so i hit up some let's play of borderlands, and at each turn, it just seemed like a more comic book style defiance game... so i decided not to buy it, as i don't want to burn out on these game mechanics....

but yeah, it seems almost similar, just someone took borderlands and made a new story and made it mmo...

Probably more, but you get my point, still a great game though.

there you have the fair comparison to Borderlands...except with hundreds of other people

Edit: but Borderlands had a Storage Vault and another storage system to save item you may want to exchange to another character.

Borderland 2 = Defiance? Not even close. Only that both are in the shooter genre. Borderland is done in a style of comic book art. Characters are pre-determined as are their best skills and traits. Weapons react differently, vehicles feel different. More creature types in Borderland.

Defiance - Creatable and customizable character not just cloths. Open skills based upon user desire. Weapons and vehicles feel different ( to tell you the truth I liked the feel of the vehicles in Borderland 2 better than Defiance), much more vast world in Defiance. AI for mobs pretty close for both games but Defiance is out on top on this one.

I enjoyed Borderlands but there is similarities. I feel after playing Defiance beta it will be a better game. That's my view though.

borderlands isnt old..its like 6 months old...defiance is first of its kind in some regards but like all games it copies and takes things that work and either uses them or tries to better them. it overall is not 100% an original idea/game

I think they may be confused because everybody is saying Borderlands and the newest one is Borderlands 2.
