I played for 3 weeks when it first came out, then took a few months break, I'm back last week and I can see a lot more people than before. I can see a bunch of people doing arkfalls 3-4 am in the morning, instances are almost instant.

I played in beta but only just come back from a forced break, glad to see it affordable for a bigger crowd.
At the end of the day more people = more potential revenue to make better quality and more frequent content.

Defiance is a really good deal at $13, and the trial is here to let people see that, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of new players.
