No, they make their money when you buy the game and with micro transactions, please provide me with an official quote saying that you cannot play the game at all unless you activate a code.

Not one other Xbox game has done this so I don't see why this game should be an exception.

Oh and I just called blockbusters and they will have the game to rent.

Not every other game is a MMO,however FFXI is and it required an access code.And since we still don't know how the servers are going to work one week from release,after going one way then the other.I think you may just have to take a chance that you could be wasting your time going in for your rental.

Yep I've been delayed too despite placing my order back in JANUARY!! Sucks knowing that I've paid extra for my edition yet people and friends who have the standard edition will be playing 10 days before me!! WTF!! Hope trion/amazon actually understand customer service and compensate everyone who has ordered the ultimate edition. This really is a joke being told this only a week before release! Was really looking forward to playing this.. now just feel massively let down!

It's an MMO, this is how they work mate.

Think about it, if there was no need to give any money the disc would be free?

Your paying £40 for a code to create an account which is then allowing you to play an MMO for free supported by Microtransactions.

Why would PC owners pay money for the game if they can just download the client for free?

I Still do not see an official post making what you are saying pure rumour/opinion. If you can prove that the game NEEDS a code to play I will gladly eat my words.

Also why would blockbusters rent the game if only one person can play it?

This delay ONLY applies to the UK Amazon site, and ONLY for the XBOX version!

And to the Guy above, Sledgehammer himself replied to me on twitter, when I asked him about a buddy of mine wanting to rent it. He said the game REQUIRES a unique code login to activate.

Not normally, once the code is used its used. The Disc is nothing more then a method to get the client.

It's simple...if it is FREE why are you paying £40 for it.

The game can be rented just like other console MMO's have been, problem is once you get to the title screen it will ask for your account which if you don't have one will be created for you using a CODE in the case, no code in the case then give is £40 and away you go.

It's FREE to Play but you still have to BUY the game.
