Is this game safe for kids?

I never played this game, but I bought Defiance for myself on a whim last night on Steam. I have some questions:

I have a three year old that likes to play his computer; he can play Section 8 very well. Is it similar?

I don’t buy my three year old shooters, excluding Section 8 (long story). I play Guild Wars and EQ2 with my 11 year old. I would like to buy something that we can all play. But I do watch what my kids play, would you let you child play this (3 or 11)?

Can the three of us play together (if I buy two other accounts) without the need to have other group members?

If a player shoots another player does it hurt him, in PvE? (assuming not)

I loved Tabula Rasa, are these games similar?

    Thanks in advance!

    Sure, kids love imaginary swearwords.

    Poopybrain was my favourite.

World should be soloable. There is only 1 fraction so theres no PvP outside of "battlegrounds". If u dont mind shooting at mutants heads then go ahead, there are worse things on internet that can be googled by 3 years old kids.

    What a load of Shtako.

Anyway, do you want your three year old hearing imaginary curses, shooting mutants and random things in the face with a shotgun and whatnot? Then sure, by all means.

Are you trying to be funny?

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

My husband and I met online, so we are a pretty gaming heavy family. I'm not letting my son play this atm only because of the language in the quests. I let him make a char and dabble with the beta while I was here but I don't think i'd let em get far enough into where they drop f-bomb n stuff.

There is blood when you kill and NPC, and it's pretty apparent they are hurt, so might be much for young kiddo's. My oldest is 10 and plays CoD with all his friends, so the blood and hurt didn't bother me. Both my kids asked me to get them a console copy of the game. I'm still holding out on that personally for the language reasons mentioned. They can stick to killin zombies in CoD or BF3 for shooting atm I think.

No, I wouldn't. Imo the game is rated M for Mature for a reason. However you could play with them if you would like to.

@LadyChaos: If you let your child play Call of Duty online, where insults are daily fare, I wouldn't bother about the cusses in Defiance.

Guess people didn't really pay attention to the F bombs.

The game is more of a borderlands type of game than Tabula Rasa. The real problem is always going to come from the community. Its an online only game, so there will always be "in theory" other people that could do or say something you might not like.
