I think I'd rather have Trion go on vacation and come back with their head in the game (literally and figuratively??), then have to spend Easter Holliday away from friends and family getting beat up by the player base. Beat them up when they get back.

Of course I want the game to release in the best shape possible, that goes without saying. This isn't about rushing it out the door. Its about how they let us access it when it is ready.

I considered maybe they needed their staff working through the weekend to get the game ready, if it isn't ready. I also considered they wanted to give their staff time off right before launch. These are good points - I touched on possibilities like this. There are obviously a bunch of reasons why they might not have wanted or been able to let us play this weekend. None of that changes the fact that if they were able and willing to let us play, it would have been a great opportunity for us and them. Since they didn't embrace that for whatever reason, from our perspective we can say opportunity wasted. Oh well.

Now the person that said easter is not a holiday weekend made me laugh really hard. I don't even celebrate it, but it is a national holiday that is ALWAYS on a Sunday, which is on the weekend...hence holiday weekend. Also I know a ton of adults, myself included, who have a 3 day weekend. Many people on these forums have mentioned looking forward to having a 3 day weekend and wishing they could play - just an observation. Lets try not to flame and argue just for the sake of it, thanks.

I just wanted to bring these ideas to the forefront and lay my opinion out there. We can still hope that they change their mind and let us at least pre-load. I would imagine the vast majority of their PC sales are digital, not physical, so its a big deal. We can also hope that the downloading won't be so bad - hope. I am sure I am not alone saying I am disappointed by the daunting prospect of download day. I want to be hopeful, but my mind is still a little blown by it all too.

I'm trying very hard to imagine an MMO development team that isn't working the weekend before launch, regardless of which holiday it is, and it's failing my reality checks every time.

Unless they feel they're finished enough to launch (and, having played the beta.. can't say I agree). But if that is truly how they feel, then why not release the pre-load process over the weekend?

Good Decision = not forcing your entire tech team to work major overtime to supervise a launch on a holiday weekend because some people can't wait 3 more days.

If they care about their employees as much as they apparently do, maybe they will care about their clients even more! I mean, except for the QQ'ing entitlementmonkeys.

They do, that's just it. People are being impatient, that is all. Why is it all of the sudden a bad idea to release the game on the day they've planned for months? True, not being able to download in advance will inconvenience a few people, but that's all it is; an inconvenience. Maybe they'll change their stance on that over the next few days. Won't matter to me I don't plan on playing until the weekend after. This weekend is bioshock infinite :P

Incorrect. http://www.opm.gov/policy-data-overs...days/#url=2013 Easter is not and never has been a national holiday. Not in the US. Sorry, but it's not a major holiday, and while some people may take off the friday before or monday after, neither one is a recognized holiday. Thus, it is NOT a 'holiday weekend'. If we were to call every weekend a holiday weekend that had some religious sects seeing it, every weekend would be a 'holiday weekend'.

I personally couldn't care less. It releases on the 2nd, and I'm aware I'll have to download it- it may be slow. OWELL. If you bought the game, you'll have it forever. You'll have soooo much time to download rofl

This also gives them a three day period of lower population servers to fix anything wrong with the game.
