No, it's not. You can do the exact same thing in the character menu anyway. In PvP you can only ever change your loadout when you respawn so that is not an issue. For all other formats it works just fine due to incurring an EGO power cooldown upon switching. As it stands now, having to enter the menu every time serves little purpose, particularly as it places extra strain on the server. This would simply improve on the current system and cause no additional imbalance whatsoever.

Thought about this as soon as an extra loadout unlocked for me. We already hold down a button to activate things. So why not hold down Y, or Triangle, or some button on PC. Have it take, say, four seconds. Have it so while 'casting' you cannot move or it resets to zero, like the activation meter does. You ego cooldown isnt affected. You cant spam powers. All it saves you is having to go into the menu, which also makes you stationary and can take more than four seconds to pop up during arkfalls anyway.

This would be fine, but really is it that necessary when you can just press Start, Y, Start? :P

This requires the server to respond with a lot more informatin than just your loadouts. Ever notice how sometimes the menu takes a little while before loading? This is because it is pulling the information from the server. Every time you enter the menu you are pulling a lot of information from the server, this concept would reduce much of the information being processed. In essence it would make the server more stable as less information is processed when changing loadouts.

    ^^Precisely.

During an arkfall with a lot of action and a lot of spammy guns, several times it took my menu 10 to 20 seconds to come up. During which time my toon would of been mauled if i had not gone and hid first.

Even if that lag was a beta thing, its still not a great mechanic to have to load that menu to switch loadouts, the point above about data transfer clinches it. Having switch as a several second stationary cast is not a game changer in any way. Just a useful tweak.

This makes sense and would make finding the group/area/clan chat options much easier.

The idea behind an MMO is preparation. In some way, shape or form the game gives you info as to the type of encounter and the enemies you will be encountering. Your load-outs will be specific to your play style, and built for different situations. When you enter a situation you should already be in the load-out preferred for the situation, having to go into the menu and switch load-outs, along with the server information delay that can happen during heavy firefights is a deterrent necessary to the balance of overall game play. If you get squished trying to change load-outs during the fight then next time you'll be more prepared. No raid or pvp battle was ever won by the ignorant. You want to master defiance? know your strengths and your weaknesses, know your enemies strengths and weaknesses, and go into battle prepared for both. Don't rely on multiple load-outs to save you.

I'm fine with current system. Preparation is another fun aspect of entering the battle. I always prepare my load out then go in instance or Arkfall. I change it in the midst but I always take cover in a safe place and do it taking time to opening menus. This is much more reasonable and make sense rather than flip load out instantly in the midst of fight, I think.
