So, when I lgged in last, all my MSP got transferd into real money (ie, my 20$ card, 1400 points, turned into 20$, no more MSP)
I also noticed I got taxed $2 on a game I bought, using this "new system"
so...wtf? Are we going to get taxed for every purchase now???
yes you will pay all applicable taxes on any purchase just like if you bought it at the store...
when I buy a points card, there is no tax....
like, 19.99 stays 19.99....
but now im taxed...?

gift cards aren't taxed...when you buy a gift card all you've done is basically agree to spend X dollars at said store/restaurant/etc...no "goods" have been purchased...microsoft paid the taxes on everything bought with their MSPs...by doing away with it, they are now making the consumer responsible for the taxes...
Bought 1,800 Bits today for 19.99, Came around to around 21.89? I believe. I'd have to check my purchase history xP

taxes are a way of life. would you rather the governments sweep your homes and find something valuable and say ill take this for you living here.
Sony use to charge taxes on stuff you bought online. They then refunded everyone that money after a year or so of doing it and no longer charge tax. As of right now you don't have to pay tax online unless you live in some states. That may change very soon depending on what congress does. MS may be getting ready for that. I don't understand why they are already doing it. As far as I know ther has been no law passed yet that makes you pay sales tax for online purchases.
Because, if there are no taxes in your state and they charge them, they get to keep them. It's free money, at least until the consumer wises up. Sony stopped because they realized someone was going to wise up and sue...
