The statement we were given was that DLC would come out as soon as 3 months but no later than 12 months.

As you have to send the game to "press" for distribution, however you continue to develop the game up to distribution release then yes there will be a day 1 patch.

M$ usually has a limit of 1 dlc per quarter, don't know about defiance though

All I know is Trion is very good with updates and adding content. I wouldn't expect it to take to long. If you played Rift you know this company is quick to fix and listens to the community.

Yup Rob Hill said so in IGN video. It's expected for a game like this though. It will allow them to continue develop beyond whats been put on the disks.

While normally I would agree, they sure are dragging their feet on the UK Amazon order and the area lock issues. PR guys are trying to figure out what to post for damage control.
