I'm not quite oceanic, but from S.E. Asia, not that far from Singapore, I can say this is a no brainer. U.S. All the way... simply because with past experience with various games connecting to Europe for anything I see ping upward of >500 ms, to the states I can see <200 ms and it generally doesn't matter what game it is, its the same

In this article is a map of the undersea physical internet cables
    http://global-internet-map-2012.telegeography.com/

The size and colour of the lines have meaning explained in the main article

    http://www.telegeography.com/telecom...-internet-map/

But simply the thicker the line the higher the bandwidth.

This partically explains why for me my connnection state side is much better than anywhere in europe. As my link jumps directly to Japan before jumping to the states. If I go through europe, I got to make a minimum of three hops with a much smaller bandwidth than to the states.

Can't wait to play with our Mates from Down Under. Us Servers should be the biggest and most populated 24 /7 for all of us that play at the none us peak hours.

Even if we had a local server, I would most likely still play on the U.S servers. I get hardly any lag, more players, more people to play with AND U.S servers are where everything happens these days.

as someone pointed out, if u want to play during the night the eu server is a better option because the population is higher there, but you will have to deal with the lag issues, as for language if not specified otherwise, eu servers are english speaking servers (the majority of the players speak, or know english).

    How accurate is that map?
Because accordin' to that; Perth isn't connected to Sydney.

If it is accurate though, either I jump to Auckland and then to the States or I go to Singapore and then... stand on a corner and wait for an SAS navigator to come past and show me the way out of that mess. :/

The map isn't going to show every connection available just the major ones, imagine trying to map the entire internet cable network world wide? It just won't happen, as simply there's always new connections being made. Since the map was for 2012, the data from it could easily be as old as 2010 if not earlier.

As there is bandwidth data for up to 2011, I would assume accurate as of 2011.
