its best if a game that was suppose to be in development for 5yrs was not RUSHED to come out with the show..
Did syfy pay trion for this game?

is that why we are having the issues we are having?

like the randomness of the last patch with giving out perk slots?
who thought that or any of this is a good idea?

the nerd herd and trolls don't count, so besides them who?
    Syfy maybe?

they control trion and this defiance game?

anytime you deal with a game that's made from or around a show or a movie, this is what you get..

My own ppl, who don't even really play games, was asking me, why does this game seem to be rushed, how is the show going to tie in or effect the game and vice versa..

well after 3months, guess we know the answer, or not..

The way I see it, tv show didn't look promising so they didn't start production on a second season right away (waste of money if they got canceled mid-shoot) so probably the day of the finale they got the go ahead, making them far behind in the production department. Other tv shows are already done filming their season halfway through the season you are currently watching. Defiance probably didn't have the luxury.

Just be glad there is a second season, otherwise the game would just flop rapidly; more than it is now.

I cant say im glad theres a season 2, I only watched one episode, didn't hold my attention much. Other than that isn't it a shame this game cant stand on its own merits, tv tie in or not?
Careful, you might loose this fight, Anne Frankly why does everybody have to bring up the Nazis?

    As quoted by Justin CarMicheal

That's the thing-- they have the right philosophy, but they implemented it so poorly players can't see it. So they ask for other genres to get copy/pasted over.

A full year??? They might as well cancel the show. By then people would have forgotten/ lost interest completely.

Maybe the ADHD part of society will lose interest, but I'm not one that sits there counting down the days until the episode releases. In fact, most times, I dont realize a show is back on until a few episodes it.

At that point, I usually watch the last episode I had seen, usually the season finale from the year prior, so I'm reminded on what the cliff hanger is. Then I watch the show. This happens to almost every show I've ever enjoyed watching. I dont wait for the show to finally air, I just pick back up when I realize it's back.

Dexter, I didn't realize we were 4 episodes in already! Game of thrones, I realized was back on after about 5 episodes in. Sparacus, the final season was already done and aired when I realized it had played, and I just started watching from the beginning. Dozens of shows I enjoy watching follow this timeline of events, not many people, no matter HOW good the show is, actually sits around waiting and counting down the days for the next season to arrive. Breaking Bad, Fallen Skies, True Blood, I never realize they're back on the air, I never sit around anticipating their return, yet I enjoy them and watch them when they come back.

You think this is bad? Breaking Bad took a hiatus in the middle of Season 6, with the second half of the season to start airing again 13 months later! I understand seasons taking a year, but mid season hiatus is usually around 2 months, 4 at the most.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head here.

Once a season has finished on a show i'm watching i'll move on to other things to watch. Like the fella quoted I tend to forget about a show when it's season is up and usually find out about it again once the next season starts and someone happens to mention it.

A lot can happen in a year and there are quite a few shows I forgot about during the season breaks and never managed to rekindle my interest (Supernatural comes to mind .... really enjoyed the first couple of seasons and then lost interest).

The problem here isn't the gap between seasons, it's can Trion keep enough interest here until the next season starts.

You guys have to remember who owns SyFy: NBC, which is famous for their craptastic handling of shows..... which is owned by Comcast... which is craptastic at much more.

All that said, it seems after launch of the show they decided to renew it pretty quickly, yes. Production was slated to start in August and they could've had it ready for a restart in April as they did with the series launch. Instead they opted to make it a June launch for the second season, relegating it to a summer line up.... where they put warehouse 13 which will be ending, and where they put Eureka(which ended and had almost exact same plotline of Defiance: guy comes to a quirky town with his daughter and is made sheriff and deals with the unique problems of said city).

To me, that spells out that they are fine with the show at least for another summer filler but that it has been relegated to their B list in considerations otherwise. Ron Moore's Helix is seemingly their shiny new toy to play with until, true to SyFy traditions, it'll summarily crumble too.

That is how SyFy rolls and Trion's learning from the best in this category of considerations.

As for the tie-ins, I can without a shadow of doubt say that Trion got in over their heads with this project. Other than the launch of the game on the required date, almost everything else they've stated to come in has been delayed, kited, and underwhelming compared to the how they were presented, and with tons of issues otherwise in tow. They've sent 100 of 150 of their employees packing including the executive producer of the game(see last friday's twitch show on that and the subsequent embarrassing silence over their leaking his being gone.)

Dont expect much thus with regards to content and tie-ins. It wasnt really intended to be much to begin with.

I like Trion to a certain extent but Defiance and Trion's expansion into many other projects too fast is eroding their reputation.

    Someone who actually paid attention.

Anyone else who's complaining, read the sig.

Hehe, you're making the mistake of assuming the show depends on the game doing well, when it's really kinda of the other way around. There are far more people watching the show and NOT playing the game than playing the game and not watching the show.

i dont know about you guys, but i found the show to be VERY disappointing. Infact it was just plain boring. they entire cast sucked. where did they get these horrible actors from. the only actor i liked was the old miner owner guy
plus a 13 episode season is just lazy **** work. i remember the days not to long ago when a show had no less than 20 episodes

To be fair, it is a Syfy channel show.

Films like Sharknado, Sharktopus and all manner of terribly named B-Movies.

If you're viewing a show on that channel you need to lower your expectations ....... a lot.
