Most of my issues with this game stemmed from the initial nightmare or patching, installing, and re installing that I had to do the fist few days I had it. After that no issues other than lag on Arkfalls and I think after doing a few last night it could possibly do to BMG's, every case of bad lag had 3 to 5 using them, I saw the same issues on the old NWN servers when too many graphic heavy spells went on at once. Past that I really have no issues about content because the game itself is new, plus as seen with other titles if they have day 1 or even two weeks later DLC somebody is gonna gripe about it.

As for the OP: Haters will always hate if they dislike something. It's sad because it usually ends up burring good and constructive threads to help better a game.

I'm glad to see the OP, as well as other posters, are actually very intelligent.
I've played Defiance very little but enjoy the sessions I get out of it (mind you, I have no home connection to play ).
Op did make very good points. One being Trion has their hands full with many games. I'll admit back when I played RIFT, they had a lot of time to fix things. They'd also break things in the process then fix the a day or half a week later.

Out of my 10 years of MMO experience, Trion is one of my Fav Devs for keeping the game playable. Times it won't feel that way, then again MMOs are hard to keep flawless.

An MMO should not have been released on console.
Free to play on PC yes all the PC players and seasoned MMO players love it.

I am flat out confused by some of the posts. You dislike me playing the game every day because I am on a console and have to file bug complaints. I want to speak to others about the ingame issues I have, while I still say I enjoy the game. Yet this seems to render my opinion as 100% negative. I read that Defiance is NOT an MMO (posted here with a link from a Trion person), so how does the this is how MMO's are work... also how on earth was I supposed to know when I ordered an xbox360 game what an MMO was and where did it warn me of the patches and on going bug fix process which would continue for a long time span..

Note I am not saying it is a issue for me. I can see why so many people are frustrated because they do not get it, it is not what console games are like and they probably did not expect it. Marketing failure #1 releasing it on a platform where the consumer was not ready for it or tolerant enough from experience.

Also why should a game company making other games impact the one I brought. They have the responsibility to hire enough employee's to do server maintenance and fix issues and deliver dlcs. Would you be as lenient if say your "product you paid for" constantly had issues and was still sold brand new and is still been worked on because roduct you paid for"'s company was actually busy selling and providing support for 3 other companies it already had and has to split its time between its customers and their needs??

Honestly content that comes often; never been an issue as it was not advertised on the back of the case and do not expect it. Pay a new game price complete the campaign, enjoy the multiplayer or achievement aspects if they are fun. Buy the season pass if all enjoyed and play for the next 6 months. I would rather a working game experience overall that continuous content.

In the end though how I feel about that is simply an indication of a game marketed to a market that was not going to be receptive.
Please do not take this as negative. I have learned to adjust to these things and have played daily for several weeks now. It would be nice to see more seasoned players try to help newer users understand and adjust better. I have a thick skin forum comments do not bother me; but many of you really manage to discourage new players by putting down what are for them genuine grievances or bugs they want fixed.

I've played so many of them, so many. Flyff, Runescape, Final Fantasy, Guild Wars,
    and so on.

How is it free if you have to constantly buy stuff?

Really? While it is a video game, it is also a business. Do you really think that they
could have this much data from all these users processing on about 2 free servers?
Free games have to provide buyables to keep a constant cash flow, sure the initial
purchase is profit, but its ran by more than 10 people; They have to hire advertisers
& marketers, pay their employees, pay for electricity, etc.

So there's not a lot of content right now or maps, or maybe you've already beaten
the game; Trion has four games. That's 4 times the amount of work to do
to get each game fully functional, error free, and stable.

Since this is a collaboration between SyFy & Trion, both teams have to collaborate
together on what should be added to the game. The game officially released to the
public in April, so get off your high horses and you try to put years of thought, plan,
dedication, and art into a free videogame series online in 3 months.

This is the third of its kind to work on consoles and still offer you the same luxury's
you'd get on a PC version.

If you're bored of it, stop playing it. It's easier than getting online, on the websites
forums, to complain about how it wronged you.

Come back in 4 months and tell us this. If you think you can handle a game with around 1/10th of the content most new mmo launches have then fine but dont dare use any DLC when/if it comes and then tell us the above again.

great you trying to be hopeful and optimistic but tell others they have no right to an opinion is just so ironic and typical .

Don't be sorry. You've just explained the majority of player bases in most all upscale MMO's. I've played and mastered quite a few. There are those like Runescape that are browser based that I let off more easily due to the fact that you don't pay an upfront fee of $60, charge horrendously for premium content that is only a recolored version of the same content you can earn and knocks you out of gameplay for a full day or more for patches that tend to make matters worse.

Then you get gamers like the OP that post ultimatums to people that hold the least bit of disdain for these business practices because they tend to display their dissatisfied frustrations.

I almost don't like the naysayers of naysayers more than the naysayers themselves. Sure, it's easy to complain when the chips aren't in your stack but to take a bite of the shtako sandwich, smile and enjoy it is disgusting.

I'm holding onto playing because I love defiance as a show. I like the fact that you can play into a season and closely relate it to the shows. I pay $$$ for something and that's how I thank them for what they do as any business understands. One thing you people should understand is that forums are based upon greed and negativity. You can't tell me that you've never in your history of playing mmo's that you've never posted a negative comment anywhere? If you havent than you need to lay off the Xanax and get back to reality.

    EDITED IN:
If everyone up and quit from boredom and/or frustration, they'd probably need to shut the game down for lack of support. You may wish to rethink your silent boycotting of negative gamers. about 90% of them have major issues with the game. Most of them are just too lazy to make a forum account. :P

Don't believe me? This is a refreshing review from a well known gamer.

This quote here defines the idiotic mentality of those who are so critical about about any comments that aren't in line with how they view the game.

"If you don't like it, then quit"!!!!! "Stop complaining, we don't need you here"!!!!! "Its not my fault you got bored with it in a few weeks, I still have plenty to do, if you don't like it, then quit"

^^^These are comment that in all my years of mmo'ing, never understood. This game can ill afford for anyone to just up and quit. Wait...an "mmo-ish" game that cant keep a portion of the general publics attention for more than a month? So now to make up for Trions inability to create engaging enough content, I must Death March so to seem ive been placed in a world were I can do what I wish. Ok, I can do the samething in Dead Island, gather 3 guys and walk the map for the fuq of it.

This is stale, boring, and people have successfully bailed out Trions anemic design.
Careful, you might loose this fight, Anne Frankly why does everybody have to bring up the Nazis?

    As quoted by Justin CarMicheal

That's the thing-- they have the right philosophy, but they implemented it so poorly players can't see it. So they ask for other genres to get copy/pasted over.
