Fixed FoV in a third person game has nothing to do with console crap or Trion being lazy, FoV sliders are rarely included outside of FPS games as it's usually not an issue outside that genre. Sorry to hear that you're one of the few that suffer as a result but you can't reasonably expect a variety of FoV options in a third person shooter.

In response to Strontium Dog, I don't know exactly where Swag got his source that but Sweetfx is technically bannable in a lot of MMOs as it can be mistaken for third party programs used to cheat or bot. I don't think they're actively looking to crack down on Sweetfx users but unfortunately it's easy for them to get caught in the crossfire. (Source Planetside 2 & WoW)

Not to sound rude but is this your first MMO? Please if it is , try any of them out there and then come back and tell us how many do not have a zoom out/FOV control..i'd guess probably none.

If it isnt your first mmo then you should know better. EQ, DAoC, WoW, WoT etc etc ALL have the function to zoom in and out and change the FOV as you do it.

If i get banned for making my game look better than the washed out tripe it is then so be it. Not like im missing anything new now is it :/

Zoom and an FoV slider are not the same.

Fixed perspective TPS and camera-pannable MMORPG are not the same.

I like the game but cant do more then 15min. The FoV is too narrow. please insert FoV Slider lilke in Boderlands2, BF or give us the possibility to use /commands.

Its really sad. The FoV holds me back to spend a lot of MONEY to buy bit coins

come on Trion ... FoV Slider = $$$

    greatings

near as dammit. Most of us find we are too close to the character. Zooming out increases field of view as such .You cant increase FOV and keep character same size so its zoomed out, as such.

All mmos can zoom out....except this one.

"Near as dammit". No, not the same. This is a TPS and they generally don't have 360 degree camera panning/zooming. And you were being outright rude to the person you originally replied to btw.

"Most of us". Speak for yourself, not some imaginary amount of people. I don't find I'm too close to the character at all, I find it annoying that the character is so far to the left of centre though.

Apparently you've played all MMOs too...but disregarding that, this is a shooter primarily, you appear to be comparing this with MMORPGs.

I'm glad I play this on a TV. Having an FOV slider should be the standard on PC games because they are typically played very close to a monitor, but playing on TV from 8 feet away does seem to eliminate this issue. But I might be strange because I don't mind using a wireless m/kb on my couch.

Lets refocus this argument on the real issue...

Defiance was handicapped from the start as soon as they decided to make the same game for BOTH the PC and console. This is the heart of all my issues with this game.

They have to basically 'dumb down' the interface to the limitations of a console controller. The results are:

    -no adjustable FOV
    -no tool tips
    -no right click function
    -no customizable UI
    -no sortable inventory

This is just off the top of my head. Making a single game for all platforms is a terrible idea, if you want to compete in the competitive PC MMO/TPS/RPG market. You can't play against other platforms anyway, so 'equalizing' the interface is pointless.

Don't get me wrong, I am also a console player, but I like PC games for what they can offer as PC games and hate to see them handicapped by some moronic marketing decision like this.

i really dont understand the negative posts and why people would be against this at all???
its obvious that people are having problems with the low FOV (me included) and there isnt any downside to putting it in the game - so why not?

the more players that come into the game the more people are going to have an issue with it

if you are ok with the low FOV then fine thats ok but why be negative about it for the people that DO have a problem with it?

Fanboys goes all out to defend whatever the devs doing, and then theres that thing about if "i don't need any changes/fixes to be able to play then noone else should".

I suffer from low FOV also btw. The stupid thing is that it's in the game already..... loot some ammo... bingo! theres that fov wider and camera pushback.

Trion, make that as a constant option.
