True enough, although I hope it's more of a case of a few bad apples rather than the whole bunch these days. Whereas in the early days of MMOs, it was ridiculous. Encountering a female player was all too often treated like a unicorn sighting or something.

In any case, it's unfortunate... and exactly the kind of behavior that does lead to some female gamers continuing to use male characters, and having very little interest in letting nosy virtual strangers know about their 'real life' details.

I left Defiance because I will not support games by Trion.
They are inept and lie to their customers if you are thinking of buying this game or any paid content do not waste your money!!!!
I guess it is pretty normal for people to want to ask someone who they have similar interests with (such as gaming for multiple hours a day) if they might be single. That happens in the real world too go out for a drink, get a coffee..It is human nature. I am sure I got asked some random things in the past few months but it is so irrelevant that it moves right back on to gaming. I do not take it as an affront if I ased another girl player if she had a boyfriend or how her husband was would that be weird?

I don't now I have no problem with 99% of the people I have met gaming and we just have fun I honestly think after a week people forget I am female

Maybe the thing is when someone asks me something that I consider personal I tell them it is none of their business. You don't want to hear that I consider you a pushy person I would not socialize with anyway and move one. Plenty of fish in the proverbial ocean do not waste time on ones who make my social time less fun.

Yep. Read a lot of guy saying they don't want to look at a guy while they're playing. Females want to play the gender they are. I've played other games and tried to play as male and just didn't like it. Didn't feel right to me. And I've seen some females that have a pretty good approximation of their own faces in games, even in Defiance.

I am male and completed the game, so instead of just rehashing the game with my same character I decided to create a second character and just thought it would be fun to try the story as a female character. Been happily married for 17 years and my 14 year-old daughter also plays the game with me at times. Just wanted to see if it would play different (easier or harder) with the opposite sex. I enjoy my manhood in real and MMO life.

Just because youre married doesn't mean anything. My family doctor David, has two daughters. Then he got divorced because he wanted a sex change. Got one. Changed his name to Deanna. Now his daughters have two moms. And I found a new Doctor elsewhere!

    You're not a M.D. by any chance?

Some of the outfits on the female models look better then on males and vice versa.

With that said, I hate how the female runs with most outfits on.

Often they look to small, emc armor is a example.
Guys often create girl toons with girl names, because like in games such as d2 and others, if ppl thought you was a girl, oh lord look out, they gonna do and give you items to try and impress you.

Actual females on the other hand, alot of them just want to enjoy playing a game. Not so much into the 'got to have the best gear to look & feel cool'

Maybe they are more in touch with who they are, it's kind of like with surfing lessons.

It's so much easier to teach a female how to surf
Over a male. Males always worrying about who's looking, do they look dum if they fall, etc, etc.

Idk, maybe inside most guys, maybe they desire to not only look at women but to be one.
I mean look at these forums, there's some females on here, how many of them do you see crying over spilt milk daily on here?

Maybe these guys just really admire and look up to strong women and in fact live that out through these video games, where its not so shunned upon.

Had to be a female in d2 if you wanted to play a magic user.

Guess it's something most have gotten use to.

Alot of friends haw said tho "it's just better on the eyes to look at a female, then a male"

    Whats the deal with that?
    Male answering...

Personally I don't do the gender bending thing. Nothing against it but boobs just don't feel right.

But Defiance seems to have revived the tragic gaming stereotype - where most female character models look super, super, super sexilicious but the male character models are unthreateningly average so as not to make any grossly overweight middle-aged men playing this game in their mother's basement feel inadequate.

If I were a woman I wouldn't play a male character in this game. In fact as a man, I'm not playing a male character yet either. I'm just waiting and hoping there are less... worn and rugged options for Castithan customisation coming with the DLC.

@ Blu: Dude you seen the cut scenes.. women models walk like they got something up their buttocks. But really towards the post in general I don't know what to say as a male. I like women I have no sexual desires towards males however I know what I like heck when I was playing star wars I went out of my wayyyyyy to buy nighties and shoes and crap so my char looks good like I would a woman I am dating. If that makes me gay/bi whatever you can call me whatever you like but if I am playing with a female toon I will dress her in what I think looks good on her period. I find women appealing and that is a reason to play as one but it's not the only reason.
