    What exactly does "bloom" do?

So when looking at guns, all the stats on them are fairly self explanatory, but i for the life of me can't understand what bloom does.

The only thing i think of when i read bloom is excessive lighting and my eyes being blinded by bloom on graphics.
Somehow i doubt thats it though :P

    Can anyone explain? Thanks <3

IIRC, guns have stats for both recoil and bloom, so it wouldn't make sense for them to be the same thing. I think DoD is correct---it's spread.

Bloom is a term usually used to describe a lighting effect (I think this is whats causing a lot of confusion). In Defiance its used to describe accuracy or bullet spread. Zero is 100% of the ammo will hit where the aimpoint is, and as the stat gets higher the random spread get larger. "Falloff" is another one that confused me, it actually means the damage reduction of each bullet as the range gets higher (you'll see SMGs, Shottys have a high Falloff stat). I thought it was bullet drop at first.

yes bloom is also the lightnign effect, but in shooters its also the bullet spread.

Meaning that the lower the bloom the more "accurate" the weapon is at a distance.

A machine gun with high bloom at long distance would miss alot if you would aim for head shot.
Thats why sometimes even sniper rifles can miss.

Tho i didnt really notice any falloff here - they need to rename the stats.

Bloom =/= recoil. Bloom is how much wider your crosshairs gets after continued fire, recoil moves the croshair center around with each shot. Snipers have high recoil, it sends your crosshairs up. SAW LMGs have high bloom, the crosshairs get wider and wider the more you shoot. There is one LMG which has negative bloom, like the one in borderlands. Overcharge nullifies recoil but you are still affected by boom while active.
