Melee weaps would imbalance the ammo restraints required for difficult ark events. peeps use up bulllets than no one needs to train the ammo perks or conserve ammo to finish the event the scripted way if you can just kill em with a sword Mal....
The only problem with the melee attachments for weapons is that your character doesn't actually use them. For example, I've got this awesome blade on my shotgun, and what do I do? I smack people with the butt of the gun. If they fixed/changed this by changing the melee animation when you put a melee mod on a weapon, I would be happy and more accepting of them never adding a melee weapon.

kk, was wondering if I read that attachments were right. but didnt realize it was the butte of the wpn they were being hit with once the attachments went onto it...odd, so its another cosmetic style game?
you know that global agenda was an mmotps and that one of the four classes could use swords for CQC, so its not that bad of a suggestion to add into game. Even the next arc of the anime 'sword art online' the main protagonist uses a photon sword as his main weapon and a pistol backup, while everyone else uses shotguns, rifles etc.
Hows about being able to duel weild two pistols. This would be very simple to develop I beleive. Think about it, equipt pistol for primary and secondary, no zoom and a 15% DAM cut to each pistol ,left trig for left pistol and right trig for right pistol. Im telling you this would the new hotness, lighting up mutants like Pistol Pete.
I'll just go ahead and make enemies now; melee weapons won't be included most likely because players who use melee weapons will have such skills that gun-bunnies will get all whiney and upset when they get massacred by them. The simple fact is that melee weapons do serious damage each hit due to their lack of ranged abilities.
"Don't bring a knife to a gunfight" is complete crap. Apache warriors would win with a knife over anyone with a gun once they were within 21 feet of their target. Police are more afraid of knives than guns because of their ease to conceal, their silence, and the devestating damage that can be done with a blade over a gun.
If you played the beta, then maybe you were lucky enough to get your hands on a rocket launcher. In most games these are the ultimate damage weapons, but from my experience, these were among the worst weapons. The slow rocket meant you missed most of the time, and infact, I rained more DPS with my assault rifle than the higher grade rocket launcher.
I don't care what you say, melee weapons should be included for the simple fact of pleasing everyone. During the beta, my girlfriend had a tendency to melee smash enemies in the face with her shotgun, or other weapon.
Yes this game is a shooter, but even shooters have melee weapons. It's tactically sound to carry multiple weapons, and a melee weapon is no exception.
Like the SMGs from Halo: ODST; I loved emptying one and using the other while reloading the first. A lot of people just held down both triggers, but what's a better option really, a non-ending stream of bullets, or a wildfire burst of SMG ammo? Take into considering your enemy hiding behind cover, which means you're wasting two clips to suppress them, rather than a stream that lets you get closer.... :P
Take into consideration, two pistols one doing 155 fire and the other doing 136 shock DAM. Now just like in Skyrim when one duel wields any two melee weapons, you combine the damage of both said weapons. in this case for defiance, to offset any unfair advantages of these two over powered pistols of their combined elemental properties, i would propose a 15% to 20% decrease in combined damage. or perhaps, the penalty can apply it to each individual pistol. let me get ur feedback...
