I don't think any emails are being sent out to notify players they've received access. If someone has actually gotten a notice, please feel free to correct me on that.
so i just today downloaded a fairly quick patch, it didnt show me a download speed or anything and didnt feel like i just downloaded 10gig of a game, what could that have been? unless im downloading at like 10mps lol, but that still wouldnt explain why my file size is so low

That's the launcher/patcher version. To see your client version / build go to the character selection screen. Upper left will show build.

I can't understand why this (or the newsletter opt-in) would work. I think people that are gaining access this way already have access, but a bug is preventing it from registering somewhere in the process. Maybe it's not changing the password that actually does it but the act of just signing into your account on Trion's homepage.

That said, I think if you're not on the "cleared" list, you're not getting in no matter what you try.

I Downloaded the game thrusday before Sledge started this thread. Had three updates to the launcher/patcher and a patch for the game. When friday rolled around I started to get the logged in but not entitled to play message. So really think its just they are trying to push it out in waves.

As a sidenote to another thread about peoples accounts...my account has the game purchase listed but not my preorder code. Of course i have entered no codes because i purchased direct from trion and recieved none.
Just think everyone could just take a deep breath and relax .

    See you all in game!!

I'm beginning to think there need to be 2 threads for Preloads. One for those with Digital Copies of the game that can gain their key codes. Another for those who pre-ordered Physical Copies of the game who do not have a way to access those keys at all but still want to know about how to preload the game who are running into the "Login successful but this account is not entitled to play DEFIANCE. Please contact Trion Worlds Support."

Having one thread that addresses two entirely separate issues causes confusion and is difficult to follow and glean the information needed.

I'm still waiting to hear someone say how those with hardcopies (and thus no keys to enter into the system) are going to be able to preload the game. Thanks.

    Physical Copies?

Agreed With above. Will those of us who bought box copies from third party vendors ie Game Stop, get to pre load as well?

This is similar to what happened to me. I had access before this thread started. However, in my case the patching failed after downloading 9 GB, the second attempt after downloading 7 GB, and the third after downloading 6 GB. For me that's 44 hours of wasted downloading. And I guess maybe they figured I wasn't frustrated enough, because then I lost downloading access immediately after asking customer support about the problem.

And then I contacted them again to report that problem, only to be told they have no way to influence who has access or not, and to just monitor this thread while I wait. I wanted to ask what I was supposed to be monitoring exactly, since we all seem to be having a one-way discussion here, but I bit my tongue.

One of my friends also downloaded the game (in 30 minutes) before this thread started, but has since lost access as well.

    Broken.

Guess this answers my question about pc hard copy pre-orders.Thank you for contacting us regarding Defiance.

We are glad to see you are interested in Defiance and do apologize for any confusion this issue has caused. For those players who purchased the hard copy of the game you will need to do the initial install and activation from the hard copy of the game since you will not have the needed registration codes to download the client from our website.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know. Thank you for your continued support of Trion Worlds and for playing Defiance.

Your reference number for this ticket is 130331-000050.

This is stupid and treats folks who want a boxed copy like third class citizens. Almost all other games let players pre load so they are not twidling their thumbs waiting for damn patch updates on launch day.

I seriously hope this is not going to be the case. One would think the preorder code could be set up to have a short duration of access, which can be upgraded, so those who purchased hard copies of the game will be able to play at the same time those who didn't get hard copies.

They really need to figure out a work-around so everyone has the same access, and not be penalized for choosing to have a hard copy. This also would mean those willing to fork over the $150 for the Ultimate Collector's Edition will be penalized for that choice.

I am wondering, what's the average time of someone who pre-ordered and now has to wait 'till the next wave of access to the game?
