Exactly as people have pointed out. Microsoft and Sony won't play nice together and mouse+keyboard will always win out (between equally skilled opponents) unless they have something stupid in there to try to balance the playing fiend between the two input devices.

Its a two way hate relationship.

Besides like other sais, the game is better of without it, no mather how good you get with a controller, a mouse will always have a edge in twitch shooters.
No, he is right. There are statements around from Trion and Microsoft that MS says no and Sony doesn't care. Not searching for it though. Some 3rd party game site had an article.

I would not mind having console players on my PC servers. Not doing PvP anyway and keeping the servers filled is good. They might be second class citizens though concerning chat. Except if they hook up a keyboard but that seems to be rare.

so basically if ms allowed any future games to be cross platform, it would destroy the illusions that xbox halo and cod fans have that they have pro skills and are 1337.
It seems that the reasons are mainly political, which is suddenly fine with me, coz nerfing pc players to appease consoler's ego's would be a nightmare scenario. (I always assumed there would be an advantage to using a mouse, but didnt think it would be all that much )

Simple solution would be allow everyone in open world and cosoles only goto consol pvp ... since pvp is seperate instanced anyways... but sadly Microslop would then lose the ability to regularily sell people the same game 2x if it became common knowledge that they COULD crossplatform a PC OS with a Crapsoul OS.
After all console are designed to be idiot boxes and steer people away from using pc's untill the OS's are finally designed to completely limit any true functionality on the pc's.

Keyboards have an infinite number of button combinations compared to controllers. Add the fact that even a cheap crappy mouse has 5000% (guessing the number to lazy to search it) better precision rating that the moronic controller designs currently in existance...then if your a real gamer you drop the mouse and slap in a thumb trackball ... console be OWNED. As per the other post i quoted .. this is a fact and one of the main reasons console ports deliberately screw up the pc UI to disguise the fact that its so much better. You cannot sell consoles if everyone with half a brain realises they can play better on a PC.

its simple MS would be ok with PC/xbox title, sony would be ok with PC/PS3 title, MS and sony not ok with xbox/PS3/PC title.

simple fact PS3 and Xbox are COMPETITORS! competitors only play nice with each other when it comes to screwing over customers.

to be honest it would be really nice to have cross platform gaming..
unfortunately its highly unlikely in the near future..

when it comes to controller vs mouse discussion.. personally i prefer keyboard/mouse for every kind of shooter game. However, i know there are really good players who can use the controller as efficient as keyboard/mouse..

"We have a high level of expectation for our game developers to ensure that all Live experiences remain top notch. Because we can't guarantee this level of quality, or control the player experience on other consoles or gaming networks, we currently do not open our network to games that allow this cross-over capability."
********, FFXI works on XBL, PS3 (through backwards compatability on older models) and PC.

    All on the same servers.

For those of you saying Microsoft/Sony would never allow a cross platform game do you not know that Final Fantasy XI was cross platform?

The PC version was later released in North America on October 28, 2003, and the PlayStation 2 version on March 23, 2004. An Xbox 360 version was released worldwide in April 2006 for all regions, as the system's first MMORPG and first cross-platform MMORPG.

However Microsoft was the bigger jerk and the problem they even went as far to insult Sony, technically they insulted PC too but they both have ties to PCs. So Microsoft is definitely the butt-hurt guy that blocked cross platform play.
