PS3 is not a ghost town.

I've noticed some posters posting that have said this game is a ghost town now. That couldn't be further from the truth on PS3. In the last couple weeks, especially the last few days, it's been crazy packed on Defiance. The Arkfall I was in earlier today had probably 50 to 60 people. It's been this way a lot lately. I'm glad people are still playing it. I love this game and hope the DLC comes soon(lol, that's funny) There ARE a lot of things that need fixed and changed...but I still like the game.

I definitely agree that the population of ps3 NA is really good. I've never had the queuing problems or any other population problems that plague other servers. The trade forums are also bustling. But the trade forums aren't as busy as they once were. And the ps3 NA server is the exception, not the standard. If Trion starts doing things right, then the other servers have a chance to be like our server. If they don't then I fear the opposite will be true

You should have been at the arkfall 3 & 1/2 weeks ago. There was about 250 people at the end and then the game crashed big time.

I was at an arkfall and there were over 9,000 people there.

    Over.

    Nine.

    Thousand!!!11!!!one!!!

9,000, do you know how many people that is?

It's too bad the plural of 'anecdote' isn't 'data', eh?

Not to mention that the server tech used in Defiance makes it impossible to gauge the population with any degree of accuracy at all, since you have no idea if there's only one instance of your zone, and thus you're seeing every single person playing (which, even if it was 9,000, would be pretty pathetic), or if there's thousands of copies and you're only seeing a microscopic portion of the concurrent population.

So basically, until and unless Trion releases concurrency numbers (which, let's face it, ain't gonna happen, in and of itself telling you something), neither the people calling the servers ghost towns nor the people claiming the game is doing great because they saw fifty people (never mind that it was actually 24 and that, either way, that's hardly impressive) have a leg to stand on.

lol...calm down there bro. I didn't CLAIM anything. I'm just speaking of what I have noticed lately. This game needs a boost, I get that. My point is that it's been really picking up on the PS3 lately. It's pretty undeniable...every one of my friends have noticed this too. I think this is because ps3 has more of the casual gamers...casual gamers aren't as near as critical of games as hardcore gamers. Defiance has flaws, but it also has captured me and my friends attention more than any game other than call of duty. I have put more time into this game than any game I've played for 3 to 4 years now, so for me, they did SOMETHING right with this game.

It's not just the quantity of players that matter. I find the quality of people playing Defiance to be high. People are generally fun to be around. I love how the game revolves around co-op play. That way it's not like COD when everybody yells at each other over online feuds or something.

I think there's a new wave of players. I've noticed a lot of people leveled around a thousand or less. Maybe it's recruit a friend, from a price drop or just people with new characters taking advantage of the flashback month or whatever this is called.

The most of the players are new players between ego 1-1500.

The high lvl's leave the game why there is nothing to make for them.

I dunno. I play with a lot of people and they are pretty much around a lot. I team with Jxsin often as well as other 3k+ players, and I'm closing in on EGO 3k so I don't think all higher levels have stopped. I do seem to see a lot more new players on the PS3 NA servers lately so hopefully it's a sign that population is better. I never have problems joining PVP or Co-op at any time of the day I play so the population must be ok. I still get enjoyment from the game and personally haven't been affected by much I see people complain about - I can understand the frustration though. Let's just hope Trion keeps working at it. Game has potential to be better as it has a good foundation. They just need to communicate w/ us a bit more & give us an idea of when things will be tweaked/fixed/patched/updated.

I still have a lot of friends that are playing. For me personally, that is one of the reasons I keep coming back. I also really like the lore of the show/game as well as see a huge potential. However, my faith in Trion in actually developing that potential has lapsed. It's hard to be so optimistic when every 1 great thing you see them do is overshadowed by 3 really bad things. As for the DLC, I'd rather wait a little while longer and have them release it when it won't crash our systems for days.

I also agree they need more communication. People complained about that before, so actual devs started coming on here and starting nice discussions. It just seems the backlash of patch 1.024 (which they released despite the huge outcry against it) and the weapon balancing threads have sent the devs back into hiding, and the community managers went from being real people with real words to say back into copy/paste bots once again.

PS: Trion, wanna get people to lay off a little bit? Re-release Afflicted Sieges until DLC. Add that matrix stuff you were talking about to make up for punishing higher egos, and add it swiftly. Also, drop a couple of new things in the game, doesn't even have to be major (just no data recorders), and I am sure that will buy you another couple of weeks before people grab their pitchforks and torches once again.
