Aswell dont forget their were the clustershot which was a small grenade for 808 damage and you could just shoot under a monarch and it would crit it aswell which is nice so obviously their will be many different types of weapons in each category we will have to see when the game comes out
In blakefrz's defense I do have to say they do have shotguns in this game that fire slugs instead of pellets. My buddy got one and he's running cloak. He was hitting (while crouched for his hunter stance perk) for like 4400 damage in the beta. And that shotgun was brutally accurate. It was a nice change-up from the usual spread shot shotguns. Plus his shotgun reloaded by clip instead of per round reloading. He liked sniping but I sure as **** wouldn't want to be up close and personal with him if we were in PvP.

VBI TACC Assault Rifle vs LMG

During my beta runs, I had trouble deciding between the TACC Assault Rifle and the LMG. I wanted to love the LMG, but the large cone of fire and the lack of range compared to the AR just killed it for me. Even at EGO Rating 298, i was topping the charts on arkfalls with my AR + Overcharge thanks to the precision burst shots.

On a side note, the beta only had level 1 mods available for purchase. I'm guessing that the full game will have better mods capable of say giving the LMG a lower bloom (possibly negative?) in order to get around the occasional misses due to the large cone of fire. Anyways, I'd love to know how to be more efficient with the LMG so please lets keep this going!

direct dps single target is basically a bolt action.... 1 shot headshot the elite's are basically 2-3 headhosts. my main load out was a bolt aaction and an auto-fragger combat shotgun for some time and then a bolt action and an AR some other time but those were my 2 main load outs.

some LMGs gain accuracy overtime when u keep firing.... so when u hold down the fire button it starts with recoil but after a sec or 2 it's basically a straight line of bullets flying lol

The type of guns matter very little, its all about the "stats" of the weapons and elemental effect. For example the shotgun, there are auto shotguns and pump shotguns as well as 2 barrel shotguns, which all have different spread and damage. But there is also the type of damage it does, shotgun are able to shoot slugs, buckshot, or even fire grenades. Though yes, I do admit that LMG is probably the best stock weapon to start with for high dmg and constant dps. With 400 dmg per shot and a 100 ammo clip, you can pretty much kill all the low threat mobs really easily.

I look at it this way first off the total amount of ammo for the weapons. SMG, LMG and assault rifles use the same ammo pool so total of 500 rounds.

Now Barring any ammo pickups that means every round you use has to count by far the SAWS do the most damage at around 400 dmg per round. Not the LMG's, Not the AR's, and not the SMG's (Barring of course the OP'ed Plasma Pulsar.)

Now this is barring any ammo pick ups however if you count in ammo drop pickups it would have to go with the SMG's. Then maybe the AR's then LMG's then in last place would be the SAW's

Now If your saying Well the SAW is an LMG. Yes it is in RL but in the game it is a completely different creature. The LMG does less damage per shot and the bloom reduces instead of expands when you shoot. Also the LMG shoots faster and has a higher Reload time than a SAW.

Now that is straight up White damage zero crits. So when you go into an Arkfall your going to do more damage over a long period of time with a High Cap SAW over anything else. That includes crits and not hip firing.

My thought is if your going into an Arkfall aiming for crits and conserving ammo well then you ain't contributing squat. Using an Infector in an Arkfall is an Ark Fail trust me I've farted around with it in one Arkfall.
Bringing Sniper rifle to an Arkfall thinking your going to be doing massive DPS is well naive. Because taking your time while your ankles get chewed off isn't helping.
Pistols are an Ok fall back weapon if there is no ammo lying about.
BMG's are Much better as a fall back weapon than a pistol since its dual purpose.
Using a shotgun is situational and can dps quite a bit since damage is calculated by pellet or slug. To me they are really good as a backup weapon when my primary is out.
Then its my choice of either SMG, SAW, AR, or LMG. It all depends on my mood but i usually roll with a SAW.

The reason why is I have walked into quite a few Major Arkfalls Late with my SAW and came out on top or at least in the top 5.

And this is coming from someone who hit and EGO rating of 468 during the Beta using all the weapons i came across. And yes i hope they did remove the plasma Pulsar because even in my enjoyment of the gun thought it was way too OP'ed

Hell I cleared a minor hellbug arkfall solo with the plasma pulsar.

The LMG, or at least the one I was using was destroying enemies. It had some recoil sou you couldn't hold the trigger down unless you were close or the enemy was big. But short bursts did wonders. Will definitely be choosing the LMG for a starter weapon on the 2nd

PS. The LMG, because of its rate of fire and the sound it makes... It sounds like a WW2 AA Gun lol

Its going to be personal preference, no different than any other game. IN COD / Battlefield, I love my snipers and shotguns, but utterly suck with SMG and LMG, where my buddy is an ace with LMG's and sucks with shotty and sniper.

In this game, I prefered an AR and a SMG, but couldnt hit **** with a LMG or sniper.

I expect an equal level AR, SMG, LMG to be relatively balanced DPS, and the player skill determines what is stronger for them.

Alot of people in beta agreed the lmg was probably the best all around. Can put a scope on it and its basically as good as a sniper. At close range it tears things to shreads and is basically a smg. At mid range it can sustain fire and is basically as good as an ar. Only wep I was annoyed with in the beta was some of the high end gernade launchers. After about a day of playing most people in pvp were bunnyhopping around spamming gernade launchers. Some launchers do like 1k dmg a shot have a big aoe and close to 20 rounds in the clip before reloading. Was just really lame.

Yeah I get that. Using the gun more will make it more useful in the long run, but i feel as such that if I miss my target, it'll be because of my own doing, not the gun. I feel like the time i waste trying to get past the recoil could be used to get more precise shots with the AR.
