I refuse to call my characters "toons", the term does not sound good to me; it makes it seem like they are just something that is disconnected from the world that they play in. "Characters" seems like a much more fitting term.

generally speaking any type of character/persona controlled by a player is reffered to as an avatar... where as character can refer to any type of character whether it be player controlled or AI controlled

ah but character has been used far longer to describe a alternate reality character in a game. most likely before your time but before MMO's there where these games that individuals would show up to play and they never called them toons. but even when the first mmo came out it was kids that began to refer to there multiple characters as toons as they did not understand the difference between them.

switching into anime yes anime not cartoons cartoons have "Toons" in them and anime have animated characters that are developed with a progression for older people watching. Toons is a character that is looney. well if you don't agree with this or any of my other statements then so be it I did try to assist in my thought on the subject and wish you the best in defiance. (I am hyped I am excited to install and login tomorrow when I pick it up)
