I wish Rift was not a subscription game. I really like that game but subscription games make me feel obligated to play them since I am paying money I could be using for more useful things. If Defiance was not Buy to Play then I would not have bought it.

The subscription model is dead. Only Trion and Blizzard can do it anymore really. But having Storm Legion for free is not a bad thing. Maybe I will mess around with it every once and a while.

steam has the best rewards for buying. not sure why anyone else would not buy it there.

I can name several reasons.
Some people may not like steam.
Had pre ordered it before it went to steam.
Or just liked the unique weapon from another retailer.
I am sure people could have more reasons then these for not ordering from Steam. I personally don't like Steam or Orgin and will not buy games from them unless I have no other choice.

you dont have to like steam.. steam is not required for MMOs.

For me the Mainreason to preorder on Steam was the Sniper and im Sniperplayer. And that Steam says that its a Sniper. Other Retailers in Germany dont even say what kind of Weapon u get. on Amazon.de and others its just "A Retailer specific Weapon". That doesnt sound really trustworthy.

Another Reason is ofc the Extras you can get with unlocking Tiers.
For a Preordered Deluxe Edition and Tier 3 its overall:
40 Days XP Boost, 15 Inventoryslots, 2 Lockboxes, 2 Outfits, 3 Titles, 3 Vehicles, An Unique Vehicle Color???, A VBI Sentinel Shield, 2 Weapons and the Discount of the Season Pass.
