The game is now $9.99 on Steam: What the heck happened?

This is really saddening to me that the game has devalued to such a ludicrous degree. I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition and now I feel like a blubbering idiot. Yeah I have enjoyed myself with the game. Did I regret my purchase? Not really... However I honestly want to know what everyone else thinks about this. What is the state of the game now? Is it really flopping so hard it need a bare bones price?

Sorry for the title it should be read without the "on Steam" part, because it is $9.99 to get it anywhere. I just said Steam because that's where I own my game.

I pick the game a day after release for 60 euros, i know how you feel....
In a month the game will become free to play with improved store, just like Rift!

The usual lack of communication and delaying in bringing out even 1 dlc has made this game the same as star trek online etc etc!

I don't think it will last- but I still am somewhat enjoying myself..... its very very limited in what it has though.

No real crafting system- no social aspect whatsoever- having that 1st gun at the start and a ego 5000 weapon makes no real difference!-they both do same stats and damage( apart from the rarity of the weapons with their synergy mods- same damage as a lvl 1 ego weapon but only with more mods)

No trading post- makes getting all those weapons real pointless unless you have like an auction house to sell them on! No bank to store stuff( think they expect you to buy inventory slots from their cashshop instead)

This game is the barebones - and the show didn't do that well either so not sure about its future.

I am glad I picked it up for a bargain price- its worth that atleast at the moment.
Many other little nagging things but if you want mindless shooter then this is pretty good as that!

Major thing right now is getting a good chat system and more content into the game quickly- its long long overdue and the primary cause of alot of people leaving and most likely the reason for the cheap game sale to try breath more life into it!

This game should've been that price to begin with to be honest. Then they should have just charge 15-20$ per DLC. Would have brought in more players, and made more money in the long run, rather then trying to gut everyone as soon as they enter the door.

Just about all games drop in price after launch hype fades. This one just went a little faster, that's all.

Between the lull in the show, summer going on, no (announced) leadership running the game, and w/e else is going on.. they ought to be happy they can still get almost $10 from someone now.

If you're upset you spent $60 (at least) so far, meh. As you said.. at least you had fun. It shouldn't bother you that people coming into the game now will have the same fun for far less money as that's commonplace.

    Valve seems bugged.

As someone pointed out in the forums in Steam

Also this seems to be wrong:

    Buy Defiance Standard Edition
    9,99€

    Buy Defiance Standard Edition 4-Pack
Includes 4 copies of the Standard Edition. One copy for yourself and 3 to give to friends.
    29,97€

    Buy Defiance Deluxe Edition
    69,99€ <----------------------

    Buy Defiance Deluxe Edition Upgrade
    19,99€

Wow... they are really seriously in a state of freefall. This is going to piss off -so- many people who bought the game through the steam summer sale and others through the Trion website in the last couple of weeks. This coupled with their finally admitting the DLC isnt coming until august(yeah right), their finally admitting Nathan Richardsson is out as executive producer(been gone weeks), its turning into a PR nightmare of a day for Trion.

I don't think I have ever seen a game get cheaper immediately following the Summer Sale.

    That's just... wow.
