help for noobs...

i hate having nooby questions and no where to go get help. on my pc version, i can't get my game controller to work and i suck using the keyboard/mouse. i thought i'd install the game on my older pc (windows vista, not 8) to see if it would work better. of course, it looks like i'd have to buy the game again because i can't figure out how to download it otherwise.

update, thanks to google i found what i needed. i do think there should be an area of the forum that is just for noobs to ask stupid questions. still don't know if my controller will work with this game, but i'm guessing it wont.

Hey did you figure it out? You have to download the DS3 tool and the driver the type of controler. Once you do that and activate the program you should be able to go to the meny and exchange the type of input.

hi diabulus. no, i still can't get the controller to work IN GAME. when i bring it up on my pc (control panel) and test it there it works perfectly fine. when i go in game, i can't get the controller to be picked up, can only use the keyboard. i've tried to change it to the controller UI, but it doesn't change! of course tech support is useless and of no help so far. i'm not sure what you mean by the DS3 tool. could you explain?

i don't understand the ds3 tool. i've downloaded it. it doesn't seem to be what i need. when i plug in my xbox360 controller, it comes up in device manager properly with all drivers installed but it doesn't show on my control panel as a controller! when i plug in another controller (a "steelseries") it comes up as a controller on the control panel and the test on it works fine. however, it doesn't come up on the device manager as a controller! i'm so frustrated!

Have you tried NOT using a console controller and instead getting a peripheral designed for your PC? I have a controller that's very much XBoxish in nature but it's designed for the PC. Less hassle than using that RedRing laden tool.

i have a wired xbox 360 controller meant for the xbox that works fine in any 'games for windows' game, no problems in defiance. I just download the driver, install it, go in game to options and turn on the controller map. Use the controller to drive around with and keyboard mouse for the rest.
