Is there a grace period for those waiting for physical copies?

Defiance is obviously a truly awesome game, needless to say I really wanted to have the Ultimate Edition which I promptly purchased when it became available.

That's all great but here is an issue that I have:

My Gamestop does not even know when they will have these boxes yet ( 3/28/2013 ) and best they can say in "On the 2nd, when the game comes out". Considering that I am in a GMT -7 time zone I will not be able to get the box until 12 hours after the servers go live (best case scenario, if everything is perfect - and it never is).

Does this mean I will be unable to play on day 1 as servers go live unless I have the retail key first ? Is there a grace period?

Rift originally had no grace period planned. After that became public there were a lot of complaints (understandably) and Trion changed direction and granted a three day grace period.

I'm not sure if that's going to happen here, though. The topic hasn't come up much. :/

its a period of time that they let you play the game before you are required to enter a cd key. this gives you some time for delivery of your physical box.

i don't buy physical copies since wow vanilla...
whats the point of getting the dvd when you can instantly download and play..

I ordered the best buy physical collectors edition months ago, and need to be online to start my guild right when the servers come up. Could we please get a dev response on this? I don't see why not as long as we can provide proof of purchase (pre order key which we all got)

nope no reset its live. after all we have bought the game just waiting for it to get here. We shouldn't be punished for buying their game in a specific format. However this is the first time in forever for me that might not have one.

Physical always win's for me because i decorate my gaming room with the contents that digitals don't come with.
