You answered your own question.
For people that don't have the fastest internet connections, digital copies are a waste of time and space. Time in that they take a day or more to download. Space in that they tie up space on the hard disk even when not being played for months on end, because the the owner is reluctant to remove something that took so long to download in the first place.
Pretty understandable if you put yourself in their shoes. I also happen to enjoy receiving something tangible for my monies.![]()

I am purchasing the Untimate Edition 'couse I like to collect CEs of mmorpg that I play. I only play mmorpgs. My personal decision to purchase a physical box has nothing to do with convenience (and I would imagine nobody buys the Ultimate Edition " 'couse it's convenient") and everything to do with collecting & owning tangible & collectible items related to the game I love and plan to spend years in.
Trion is by far the best company out there, mmorpg wise, when it comes to customer service and listening to their players. I am sure that a lot of people who played Rift with us for the past two years or so would agree. Reply to e-mail 2Unfortunately, due to an unexpected delay a few select retailers may not have stock of Defiance Ultimate Edition and Collector’s Edition on PC and Ultimate Edition on Xbox 360 in time for April 2. This delay impacts a small amount of customers and is confined mostly to pre-orders placed with Amazon UK and a small number of retailers in France, Spain, and Canada. While all affected customers have been contacted by their retailer outlining a new delivery date, we are working with those select retailers to deliver ahead of those new outlined dates. We are currently unable to credit accounts with time prior to the customer obtaining the physical copy.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we thank you for your continued support and for buying the special edition of Defiance.
Gamestop told me that my Ultimate Copy will be late by up to 3 days due to messup on Trions part. Trion is doing nothing and in the mean time I have huge guild to organize at launch. It's going to be interesting how this turns out but right now it's looking like this might turn into a pretty unpleasant launch for guild leaders & officers who won't be able to participate in launch. Some of us already took day off work for this :PThank you for contacting us regarding Defiance.
I understand how frustrating this matter may be. Unfortunately, there's absolutely nothing that we can do to accommodate you in this matter. There is currently no way to grant you a temporary account before your copy of Defiance - Ultimate Edition is obtained.

I ended-up cancelling my pre-order with Gamestop and purchasing it from Steam instead. Too bad, I was looking forward to the Ultimate Edition goodies.

I was sort of in the same boat and i still am, but my wait time isnt as long as most i actually pre-ordered my defiance collectors edition at gamestop and they are not doing a midnight release, so i changed it to walmart since they are open 24/7 so i went there and they dont even know if there getting any ultimate or collectors until the day of.
So i have thought of a somewhat solution you can buy a standard copy from any store around you pick it up at midnight, play it until you get your ultimate or collectors copy. Dont wait longer than 7 days then take the standard copy back to the store and get your money back. Now before you try this make sure that your are able to return the standard copy of defiance within 7 days if you dont like it.
