    To quote myself:

Regarding major weapon damage advantage from Ego 1-500.

A starter character with a manual action sniper rifle does 1269 damage. A critical shot does 3807.

    With this build:
    http://defiance-central.com/ego-calc...-95c-&start=72

    Damage modifiers are introduced.

If you were to snipe someone turned away from you, a standard shot with stealth active would do 1840.05 damage. A critical shot would do 5520.15 damage.

If you were to no-scope someone running at you, a standard shot with stealth active would do 1649.7 damage. A critical shot would do 6285.357 damage.

Your ego and your choices do make a difference.

This does not even include the effect of modifications.

Now the gun damaged may be fixed but there are many things that can increase damage or functions of your gun. One way is through what ego perks you equip to your character. Another way is Mods for your weapon that could effect dam, aim, ammo. Also each weapon type has proficiency so when you use the gun alot the proficiency ranks up you will get a passive buff to that weapon type. Those are the big things that can effect your gun there are few other things, but i'm not going to list everything out.
Also would like to make a note that every enemy that i ran into in beta had a weakpoint which if you shot there the damage is i think x3 damage.

Don't focus on the gun damage focus on the situation your character is in and what weapon you should be using.
thank you all an Kailis this I didnt know, thanks

Sledge (community overlord) said that stats and weapons in the beta do not reflect the values in the retail game. He made this comment in a thread asking for better weapon stats and progression and basically told people to wait until they see what it's really like before voicing their complaints, this implies that we will see a weapon curve better than what was represented in the beta, as I recall the lowest bolt action sniper I found was 1k and after my ego levels, the highest I could find was 1271. I could be mistaken though but I distinctly remember those numbers on the bolt action single shots.

The rarity of the weapons of course did have a marked increase in the slots/mods/modifiers, even that may not be a representation of what the real game will look like.

So we'll have to wait and see what the exact curve is.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

I find it interesting that the game does not have such an immediate gear progression. It remains to be seen for me how it plays out. Excited to try it out. Pre-purchased through steam and am waiting to play. I wish i could play this weekend.

I have a feeling that when it comes to weapons and mods, its going to be really fun to mix and match. we wont really know until release, but i have no doubt in my mind that it's going to be very involving and fun to play with. I can't wait.

Beta is Beta, I'm surprised by so many players not understanding this is a 4 month old build, so very little changes from feed back and testing.

We played just a taste of Defiance, maybe 35 to 40% of this game was tested.

Giving this game a honest chance to keep me interested for over a year. By then we should know the heart of this game good or bad. Obvious choice for PS4 in the future, if the show does not bomb the whole aspect. Watched years of SyFy shows like Stargate, so I have faith even that can succeed and may be a great aspect to a MMO.

But guns, powers will all be changed over time of this year to come, as in all MMO's. We the players will play, find an Uber weapon, everyone abusing the weapon will lead to forum posts and QQ threads, about PvP and PvE weapons needing to be Nerfed, then a new weapon will take its place. This is the cycle of MMO.

I hope this explains a bit about why Trion did what they did.

Personally I think that Trion has it right, using incomparables instead of increasing strength. Helps to balance it really well.

Nope not all but Most ive seen so far.
If i remeber correctly the Most Bolts have 1271dmg, 0,7 firerate and 5 Mag.
While the VOT Bolter has 1010dmg, 1,3 firerate and 10 Mag.

    otherwise ur half correct.
The Rarity of the Weapon "only" has an Effect on Modslots, Elemental Effect or Synergies.
But u can also get some bonus Stats like -0,1 Reload or -0,3 Bloom and so on.

Deadpool ur totally wrong with that Sentence. The Alphatesters had much more to test than the Betatesters. Beta would be seen as an Server Stresstest.
But some if not many of the Bugs and otherwise wrong Things were patched in Alpha and so in Beta. Mostly its Stuff like not properly working Missions or Missing Spawns. But also changes on Weapons and other Stuff. Like an Weapon that isnt even ingame anymore cuz it was totally overpowered.
