Why do hellbugs care about arkfalls?

Hey guys,

The title says it all. This just occurred to me a little while ago. After all, I can see why the semi-human baddies would want to sell off the loot just like us arkhunters, but why do the bugs care? What do they do with it? Do they eat it or something??

And secondly, why do the giant monster/hive things actually come out of the ground? I mean as awesome as they are, they really don't deal much damage and just make themselves vulnerable to getting shot. Why don't they just stay right below the surface and let the smaller, more useful bugs do their bidding?

Are there any plotline explanations for this behavior, or is it just because it's awesome (this is a videogame afterall :P). Any ideas?

Ya I remember from some dev gameplay interview that the hell bugs eat the ark fall crystals. They did not get into why the bigger bugs/hives come out of the ground I would only assume that it's because if they didn't we couldn't shoot at them lol

not really sure being that i dont believe the hellbugs are indigenous to earth (i hope not) maybe the tera forming tech created them ? so possibly they are drawn to its presence ?

The big blue rocks you see is Gulanite and the bugs eat that.
