You mean lose. You lose too much time. And welcome to Defiance. It's a post alien invasion apocalypse, not some happy pony utopia. Shiznit's gone down son. This ain't rollin to taco bell at 2 am to get some quesadillas and blue Mtn Dew.

Deal or no deal. There is no fix.

Also, Challengers are overrated. Get a rare Duni from a vendor.

Now I know why the Volge are so upset! They are all Ex-Taco Bell Employees.

Try to kill the Monarch and then restart the race.

There's always something standing in the race course, it's how races are in this game.

Leveling up the roller also helps a lot. I got my gold medal yesterday after a few attempts.

    Good luck!

i agree that its a problem. i know the challenge is supposed to be hard, but its already hard enough do to the fact that its a long race and the challenger itself has extremely poor handling compared to the other rollers. Don"t feel we need the extra problem of hellbugs and hellbug pods spawning in the middle of the course. with no way around them with out slowing down and losing your boost. i have only been able to silver medal this race because of the hellbugs.

Last time around, I recall playing the Challenge race when it was in a different location (I think), and my rollers level was pretty low. It made gold virtually impossible.

Level up your rollers (which may require waiting for the next one) if they are low level, and, as one poster above said, kill the monarch. However, DO NOT end the actual emergency. There are hellbug emergencies that just end when the monarch dies, and others have you clear out all hellbugs. I ran into both at different times when first trying this weekend's racing challenge. (I also ran into that tree stump in the middle of the track.) If you end the hellbug emergency, a new one quickly shows up in your path again. If you leave the emergency just a bit gimped, so that it is still running but without the major obstacle (monarch) present, you'll buy yourself more time to race unimpeded.

Also, let me suggest on this one that it is like many other time trials, yet different in one important factor. Like many of the races, you will need to jam on the boost for almost the entire race, and you will benefit from the fact that every gate you pass through will refill your boost meter. However, unlike many of the regular time trials, you really can't race this one with a high-level vehicle and boost on through turns. The Challenger just doesn't maneuver as well as the Hannibal.

I would let off the boost and gas just long enough to reorient yourself slightly right at the first curve in this race. Do the same just long enough to reorient when you come down the big hill (past where it is easy to hit the truck sitting to the left at the top of the hill) and have to reorient somewhat to the right. There's one more place that is very much like that second one, near the end, where you will likely want to do so also. Just don't use the "brake" button, since it is also reverse and makes maneuvering a pain at those moments.

Also, a little bit into each lap and then with about 40 seconds left on your lap (or maybe 30), you reach a couple of areas where you are on an actual road, but you are curving in such a way that boost will make it probable that you will just barely miss the sides of some of the gates. In those stretches, use regular acceleration, but not boost.

Finally, in that last segment when you are curving on the road without boost, you will go down a small hill and curve left, then back up a little and have to curve to the right. Even with regular acceleration, it is VERY easy to hit or overshoot the guard rail on the left side of the road, causing you to lose time as you try to curve to the right and hit the final road gate before you pass to the left of a large tree and go off-road again. At that right-hand curve in the street, let off on everything and MAYBE even tap the brakes just a bit. I have lost more time overshooting that curve than with any emergency issues.

If you stick to a game plan (obviously that was mine) that minimizes any extra time lost, you can take the extra couple of seconds to avoid the hellbug emergency near the final gates without missing gold. Even having to avoid an emergency still going near the end, my Level 18 (or 19?) Challenger was able to get the gold with about 7 seconds to spare after some practice.

Oh, and if EGO counts down and there is a delay before you actually get to drive, you'll see the same ol' error, where you start with a few seconds already on the clock. Immediately restart the race. There's no point in starting out with a handicap.

i found that there are only 3 or 4 points where you need to lay off the boost because of the course itself. add 3 more to that because of the hellbug emergencies. Without those i would have had the gold medal several times. my roller level is 18 so i dont think that is the issue. the challenger is the worst roller in my opinion, the duni has way better boost and handling

Yeah, I get that this one needs to be a Challenger time trial because of the Dodge sponsorship and all that, but it would be nice if some of these races could be done with the Duni. Even if the Challenger handled better, it is still annoying as all hell sound-wise.
