My point is largely that if you have a rotation of guns you like, be it six to twelve, you have a workable scheme that you can play with. I have three different assault rifles myself and it took me longer to find the mods for them then it did to grind the ark salvage to open the slots. One still has an open mod slot for a scope that I haven't found yet.
It takes me an afternoon of arkfalls to get the ark salvage I need to open a weapon. This is not a punishment, it is an incentive to stay active in the game.
What is strange is when I hear people talking about trashing a weapon when they max out it's experience bar and then replacing it with another. What's strange is when people have a bevy of twenty to thirty odd weapons to which they are constantly adding mod slots. Yes this last activity is going to drain resources that's just the way of the world.
At the moment I make far more in ark salvage then any beginner player is going to, so it should cost me more. I also am spending far more time in activities that make far more ark salvage then a 1000 ego player because I'm no longer running missions and side missions.
So to sum up, I've made what I need to have a full bevy of weapons each for their intended use and to toss around an extra weapon or two to play with other synergies. I don't need lower costs so I can stand around all day modding one weapon from a single arkfall like most here are advocating. Playing the game does not equal punishment. Now if you were to point out that I can't trade any of my equipment with my guild because I'm 500 to 3000 ego higher then them; you sir would have a point. But for now we're focused on the wrong side of this argument.
Actually psoting in the suggestion forum IS the best idea. If you want more people to see it then after posting it in the right forum, come into general and post a thread with a link to that post suggesting people go check it out and respond. Then it will be in suggestions where the devs will see it and people will follow the link to it and respond so the devs will see how much the idea is liked.
On topic it does make plenty of sense.

You're right but people constantly say otherwise because they don't remember how much they got at lower levels. But he (dbcameron) is implying he makes more by NOT doing any of the missions oor side missions that the lower ego does. So he has more time to do arkfalls and such to get more salvage.

I just played for a couple hours and didn't come close to what it costs me to open 3 mod slots on the guns I'm getting. No way I'm getting that much ark salvage in just a couple hours.
The bottom line is that it's too expensive right now and needs to be changed. The majority of the community agrees and so does Trion. One of the devs(Trick Dempsey?) just recently said that they crunched the numbers and found that you are more likely to win the California lottery than to have an orange weapon fully modded with synergy mods. Those odds are ridiculous. Lots of changes to mods in general are coming, and I can't wait. I have guns now that I want to keep and I don't get rid of them unless I get something I like better.
I have way too many weapons that I don't have modded out because I can't make enough ark salvage to mod them all out. It makes grinding not worth the hassle, so people don't do it very much. And yes the ark salvage is the same at lower levels as it is at higher levels. No difference in what you gain, thats why the developers are changing the whole thing. A complete revamp of the mods, matrix system, synergies.
I play quite a bit, so it's not like I don't play enough to get the ark salvage. It takes hours upon hours to save up 50,000 ark salvage. Thats what it costs me to unlock ONE mod slot right now. The other 2 are even more expensive to unlock. And once you DO get one gun unlocked, it's ridiculous to try to get the correct synergies to go with it. I've spent a fortune on synergy mods and only got 2 of the mods I needed. Yes, I can trade and all that, but you shouldn't be shackled to trading in a game.
I want cheap costs for mod slots, and an immersive crafting system that requires a lot of grinding, but rewards you with the items you want instead of a "chance" at getting a mod you need. Nobody is against grinding this game..we just want a reason to do it. The costs of opening mods is horrible when you add in the fact that you may never even get those mods.

Then I have a couple weapons that say I should be a millionaire.
To be honest I'm exaggerating but not by much. Yes a full day of grinding will get me the ark salvage I need to fully mod a weapon (to be even more accurate 6 hours). I see no problem here. I pass most of these complainers off as out of their minds which is why I don't engage most of them.
My only problem is with every weapon I get having my ego rating tied to it. Some yes I understand the roll system they use for bonuses, but when something has lower stats it should also have lower ego rating so I can trade to someone below me.
Now for the Mod drop rate I would like to see crafting, with it's associated grinding for supplies, implemented to solve that very issue. But don't just hand me everything. I deserve what I have because I worked for it, and it was fun working for it. Lower it too much and you'll take away one of the few systems in the game that can give you long term goals.
...and empty slot at that. The challenge in modding out guns should lie in the grinding to GET those mods FOR that specific gun. I personally dont think they should even have added the whole "opening mod slots" to the game. Its a senseless waste of time, and just something they invented to eat ark salvage from players. I understand that to an extent, but not the extent of the prices they are charging right now for opening slots. Thats not where the challenge and grind should lie.
Id like to see them have co-ops, and better ones at that by the way, have chances to drop mods, even if rare. It would help. Id like to see the crafting be extensive and make the challenge in crafting be getting rare recipe drops to make certain guns with certain synergies. Yes, make the recipes semi-rare for greens, and rare for blues. It would still promote community, trading, etc into the game, and adds an element that alot of people really enjoy, myself included. The grind should NOT be in the simple act of just OPENING an empty mod slot. I like RealHoosiers prices, maybe even a little more expensive but not much more than that.
Sorry, I just do not see a player earning enough salvage to open 3 mod slots on an ego 3500+ weapon in one afternoon. The first slot is free. The ones after that are around 300k salvage total.
If the game allowed you to salvage multiple items at once then I could see it. However since they insist on salvaging multiple items such a pain in the *** it only makes salvage gathering that much more a pain in the ***.
There is a difference between working hard and grinding salvage out as a time sink and doing repetitive pain in the *** clicking as a time sink. One of the reasons why this game has gone so far down population wise. Developers simply do not listen or care enough to implement changes to improve the crappy user interface.
