    1% Damage boost per 500 EGO, makes high EGO worthwhile.

    So ive always thought the concept of Defiance was to "Jump in as a new player, and you can be on equal playing field with high level players."

    Well, this should never be true. High levels should have an advantage, thats the point of leveling systems. But ok, I'll entertain the "keeping it somewhat even" aspect that Defiance has...

    SOLUTION: Give a 1% Damage bonus per 500 EGO. Lets look at this more in depth... (Keep in mind any bonuses, such as Mods, Rolls, and Weapon Skill are not being discussed/added in to this discussion... also, PVP would most likely require a Shield Buff to accomplish this, but i hate Defiance PVP so you feel free to discuss this on your own)

    Using the SAW for instance since everyone is using it for now. (Not including 5% @ Lvl 20 AR) With a base damage of 416, adding 1% damage @ 500 EGO, makes it 421 (as i think 4.16 would round up to 5). Here's how the damage would play out over 5000 EGO: 416 base damage, 421 @ 500, 426 @ 1000, 431 @ 1500, 436 @ 2000, 441 @ 2500, 446 @ 3000, 451 @ 3500, 456 @ 4000, 461 @ 4500, 466 @ 5,000 EGO, a BONUS 50 damage per bullet (non-crit).

    So if you grab a 3499 Ego saw, its damage is 446. you gain EGO to go over 3500 and grab a new SAW, its damage is now 451. The 1% bonus wouldnt be applied as YOU level, but on the NEW GUN you find as you have already leveled. If you keep the 3499 SAW, and go over 3500 EGO, the SAW stays @ 446 damage.

    This 1% transcends across ALL types as well:
    Blast Rifle: 40 base damage -> 50 damage @ 5,000 EGO, +10 damage.
    Stingray: 462 DMG/Sec base damage -> 514 DMG/Sec @ 5,000 EGO, +52 DMG/Sec.
    FRC Bolt Action: 1271 base damage -> 1408 damage @ 5,000 EGO, +137 damage.
    Mass Cannon: 1614*3 base damage -> 1788*3, +174*3 damage
    Immunizer: 4 DMG/34 Bug DMG base damage -> +14 DMG/44 bug DMG.

    So atm, if me (4600 something) and an EGO 20 new player both bought the Vendor SAW, I'd instantly have 45 more damage per bullet then that player... Doesnt seem like much does it?

    So I ask the community:
    Would you as a new character feel upset knowing higher players have a slight, but obvious, advantage? If you have multiple characters, Would you be driven to get them to 5k EGO? Heres one that impacts TRION WORLDS: WOULD YOU BUY BITS TO POP LOCKBOXES @ 5K EGO TO GET THE 'BEST DAMAGE' WEAPONS?

    Wtf I was sure I posted something on this thread? Ok dude high ego ppl do have an advange
    1st the amount of ego power slots
    2nd their ego powers they have
    3rd The weapon skill
    If am right the the 2nd weapon skill is increased damage. AND as you go on other advanages are added. I know you said something without weapon skill but that is the other part if the game! Their are 3 parts to a OP character. 1st simple enough weapons, 2nd Ego rating/powers, 3rd WEAPON/VEHICLE SKILLS!!! That is their advantage so you should take that into account. Yes with enough skill you can take out a high level character. I KNOW I recentally made a new character jumped into pvp I got 1st place. How? Because I hade enough skill and experience with the game to do so. Keep in mind these where HIGH level characters with my friend ego 3545 ego rating I had to go up against.

    1st off, like i said, im not talking PvP. So jumping in there and doing whatever has bearing on what im talking about. Hell, PvP shouldnt even exist the way it does, COD and 343 Industries ruined Deathmatch. Id much prefer a set-standard for PVP. Same equipment with minimal variences... Unreal and Halo were my favorites, they were based on Skill and 3 power-ups... I didnt get killed cuz someone keeps tubing across the map, i got killed because i couldnt pull off 4 headshots, before the enemy could.

    In PvE, at Ego 1.6K, you can:
    1~ have 20 Weapon Skill (the +5% Bonus Damage).
    2~ Get a fully rolled/Synergy Orange.
    3 ~ have all 9 Perks. (Granted you may not have Tier 5 EGO, and all tier 3 Perks)

    There you go. The only advantage I (4700 EGO) have over a 1600 EGO player is a few Perks (as you could get a couple T-3 Perks i assume).... Also, talking WEAPONS ONLY, the 2 items that have proper scaling in this game are Shields and Grenades, which have minimal increase... Which is what 1% damage per 500 EGO would be.

    Negative, ghostrider.

    1) If you make good decisions, you will have every useful perk that you will use unlocked around 1600-2000. This is an argument that every low ego player has made, and many other players (from low to high ego) has disproven

    2) Once again, even if you don't make good decisions, you can have every EGO power unlocked at a low ego

    3) Once again false. I am close to 4000 EGO, and for the longest time I only had 3 weapon skills maxed because those were the 3 I used the most. Now, that was my decision to do so, but that disproves that I am guaranteed to have awesome skill in all weapons. Now, on the other hand, what if you have a low ego character who does nothing more than level weapons. That's what they do instead of pursuits, missions, whatever. They should have most skills maxed also around 2000 (maybe before since maxing a skill only gives 4 ego)

    So I'm not in game so I am assuming there are 16 skills (I don't remember if regular and guided RLs are 2 different skills). Each skill you can level up 19 times (starting at 1, ending at 20). So 304 levels. 4 Ego per level, 1216 total EGO gained. Now just throw in some randomness experience that I am sure you will get from leveling these weapons, such as kills, arkfall xp, blah blah blah. Even giving 800 ego levels is a bit much for this randomness.... so you see, very possible to be maxed out by the time you hit 2000.

    As far as when damage bonuses unlock from skills, it varies and is not always the 2nd unlock. For sawed offs, the damage bonus comes at level 20.

    So we higher egos have 1 thing: A glitched outfit you still have to have trusted faction in every faction, have equipped an orange in every slot, and a lot more crap that isn't worth a glitched suit

    As far as the OP. I agree with your suggestion 100%

    Ok, i know this is a 2-month old necro... but with 1.105 making the Rarity damage increase, I have to ask...

    WHY WASNT MY IDEA USED! ='( It was sooo good, us EGO 5,000 players would be so happy with this. It is just a mere step beyond 1.105 that gives us increase damage per Rarity. My idea focused on the PLAYER, not the WEAPON...

    I know my math up there doesnt exactly account for true DPS sharing though the weapons, it was all just spur of the moment kind of post... Also its not why im a game creator. I just Really thought 1% boost is low enough to give a good boost for high lvls while keeping new/low players CLOSE in damage.

    And this 1% Base Damage boost per 500 EGO would not only tempt players to get a 5,000 EGO character, but would please the EGO 5,000 that already exist...

    Now combine the Rarity Boost, and my proposed 1% per 500 EGO boost... Yummy lol.

    The reason we get games like this are all the whiners who complain that people who have been playing longer have better stuff and are more powerful. Well, duh! That's why they try to disguise levels in this EGO rating. Hey, it's still a level.

    People play MMO's because they intend to advance. There's nothing much else to do. Why invest so much time without rewards? Most old school games threw you into a match in exactly the same state every time. Then games started tracking stats on players and so the persistent-development feature arrived. It's hard to imagine playing one today that doesn't have it.

    I'm not that high in the game, like 1117, but I am all for rewarding higher players. I really believe that each better grade of the same weapon should improve its stats. Or allow weapons to rank up with the player by a slight margin.
