They find unsuspecting schmucks in-game. Offer them a lowball amount of scrip for their orange weapons, then come to the forum where every try hard with too much scrip offers outrageous amounts to show off what impatient idiots they are.
Rinse and repeat.
They sell oranges/purples and mods to players mostly. Alot of peeps like to sell all of their unwanted items to venders as well but I personally just break everything down that I don'want or give it away to clan mates because there is nothing worth buying in the stores anyways. Tips most of which I dont follow myself.
1.) Don't buy anything. No shiny weapons at vendors, no keycodes, lockboxes, nothing.
There's a pursuit for getting 1 million scrip, check your progress there it will show how much scrip has passed thru your hands since you started. I am at about 600k there even though I have only just now saved 100k in my bank, I have spent much more in the course of daily play.
2.) Don't salvage anything, sell it all.
3.) Run alot of stuff while doing steps 1 and 2. Co-ops, Emergencys, Arkfalls, all payout scrip someone else will have to tell you the best things to run to make scrip.
Thats the "normal" ways to make scrip, personally I suspect if your seeing ridiculous amounts it mau be due to selling or trading items, Oranges can sell for stupid amounts of scrip, so can the "Right" mods.
Sell me your guns for cheap and we will find out.

Trading weapons and selling loot instead of salvaging. The downside is that it's a very small market.
I think it depends on how you play. I've been playing for 3-4 days, I'm at around EGO level 300, and I have about 40k scrip. I rarely buy items from the venders. Maybe a mod here and there, and a purple weapon that I might be interested if on sale. I think I've spent a total of 10k only from the vender since I started. I've noticed that since I've hit around level 300, my items sell for more when selling to the vender, so I foresee I may hit 100K in another 3 days or so.
I'm always broke, either I'm dying nonstop because I don't care how many times that Volge killed me he will go down or I honestly just never seem to get money.
I do arkfalls the most and the scrip gain seems paltry. I guess I should try selling weapons or something I don't know, I've only ever gotten one orange and it was so terrible didnt seem worth the effort to try to sell.
I would not recommend that. Keys max @ 75 - so you need to buy lockboxes or you're just wasting your keys from arkfalls/co ops/pvp. Also, if you never break anything down, you'll have a hard time adding modslots or resetting skillpoints on weapons.
If you are simply wanting the pursuit done, just trade scrip back and forth with a freind or clanmate - it counts, I know, I did it, lol.
I vendor whites and greens and salvage blues and purples. Lots of moola AND lots of salvage. I've got about 1.5 million salvage and 1 million scrip currently.
