Ultimate Edition: Check with Your Gamestop (U.S.)

I went by Gamestop today to put another couple of trade-ins toward the Ultimate Edition and to pay off the rest of it. After talking to the manager, who has been very helpful in the past, he noted that when I upgraded, he contacted whomever they get their orders through, to be certain that my UE (the only one preordered at the local store) would be there for sure when the store opens on April 2. He noted that they then sent it overnight to make sure it got there in time.

He then emailed them a second time to see if he could secure a second one, and was unable to do so.

So, two things seemed to arise in the conversation that made me think that if you're planning on getting a UE through Gamestop or have one preordered that you might want to call first:

1. If it took special shipping to be sure I'd have it on April 2 when the store opens, that could mean that others may not actually be at the store when they open on launch day.

2. If he couldn't get another one anymore as of earlier this week, that would seem to suggest that it isn't just Gamestop's website that is out of them, but potentially now the brick and mortar stores as well, which did not appear to be the case early last week (based on comments on the forum about preorders after the site sold out).

Yes, as of talking with my local Gamestop today, where I preordered my CE, there are no UE available for release day. This means that you can only get one through Gamestop if you preordered one. They were unable to acquire any extras for stock purposes.

That just made absolutely no sense at all in this thread. Who said anything at all about a code? (Or a download, for that matter?) The OP is in relation to the Ultimate Edition (the physical release with all the goodies that is a Gamestop exclusive in the U.S.).

make perfect since you can still play on day one just have to wait a few days for your bug and bag i dont see a biggy. I too tryed to upgraded my order this last week from Deluxe to Ultimate but Gamestop said there could be quite a wait on them so i held off

The OP was in reference to the UE not being available in many places at this point, should people still be interested in it. Codes have nothing to do with it, since you wouldn't have been given a code for a physical boxed edition on your receipt.

ive heard from many people who purchase physical copies who recieved a code on the receipt so they could download the client and get the rest of the physical items at a later date

That was a beta code on the receipt. For the xbox you need the actual disc

For what its worth in Canada Gamestop will be up to 3 days late with Ultimate Editions from what they said so far. Gamestop is blaming Trion & Trion is blaming retailers. There is no codes on receipt.

I sure was expecting a much better customer service when paying almost $200 (after taxes) for a computer game :P
