    Let's talk Guilds

Has anybody seen any content in the game that would make you think a guild is worth creating/joining? I totally get the social aspect of joining a guild, and plan to when I find a decent group of old guys like me. I guess I'm asking if there will be a need for the power guild, that is the only one on the server to beat Hellbug Omega.....or some such.

I only played in Beta3, but it seemed to me that all mobs were open or instanced. Instanced seemed to have a decent matchmaking system. I haven't seen any Raid style content, nor heard of any.

if you believe that guilds only exist to raid.. i don't think there are any raids in defiance afaik,

guilds are for socializing and helping each other with various things.

you can also buy clan based exp and scrip boosters in teh cash shop that apply to everyone in your roster.

Well from my experience ... the game has allot of verbal communications from npc's which will hinder vent / voip communicating due to people wanting to listen to the quests and all. There are however quite a few benefits such as: Shadow wars / PVP, quest help, Instances/ Co-op etc.

I hope this helps your decision to join or not join a guild/clan.

P.S if your looking we are recruiting - we have a vent - and are a small friendly group but plan on growing

mumble and ts3 you can hotkey mute/deafen which is handy for cutscenes.

A guild is a matter of ones own personal choices. Being an old guy in a gaming community of old guys, well most of the gang is younger than myself, me being the oldest gamer in our roughly 30+ in age gamers. With this old fart sitting at 45. we have a team speak server with which we all talk on on a regular basis and you never know what game the group will be playing from one minute to the next half the time.

atm 6-8 of us have preordered the game already. from what i seen in the beta guild shows up on mini map as a green dot. even though the game has its own built in voice servers we disable that and use our team speak as default. But the group of us who tested the beta it was super nice to have that one extra person or two around to mass farm up ego quicker or to help tackle those pesky elites and monarchs to finish some of the side quests. which usually netted both of us with completion or one with a completion and still allowing us to take our guildies / buddies in with us.

I didn't mean to get anybody worked up. I just meant to ask if there was any benefit, other than social, to join/create a guild. I'm all about the social aspect in this phase of my gaming life. I was a raid leader for a few different games a while back, and still help with the strategy stuff on occasion. At this point I want to stay away from the drama of a power guild. Any way, thanks for the input.
