Lock boxes are not so random after all...

So everyone has their theorys on lock boxes and I'm usually the first to say I'm positive they are just random, you could make a hundred theories that may work bur random is random.


However this loot weekend we have 2 thongs happen now which make me think otherwise!

Firstly on Saturday afternoon while loot farming a mate saw his mate just pulled an orange quick repeater so he said to him nice sniper there. The guy had no idea what he was talking about as he hadn't hit any boxes in a while. The guy then hits the lock box and within 2 boxes gets an average cannon, decides to go for a few more and within 5 he got given the orange quick repeater my mate had seen him be given 10mins before he got it. Now we all thought that was a one in a million random bug. Next thing you know today during some more farming a different mate has a sub carbine pulled in legendary, We asked him and he hadn't hit a box so he decides to hit 4 or 5 boxes and gets the sub carbine it showed before he even hit the boxes!

One time could be called a bug or chance but twice in 2 days now makes me think that the boxes are more predetermined then we once thought!

It was just luck. If it were predetermined like you think, there would be a lot more oranges in circulation.

I've spend thousands of keys since release. The only oranges I ever saw were during Alpha. I've not had one single orange drop from a box since release.

Random is random. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you get BOHICA.

For all intent and purpose, its best for you to consider it random. However, it isnt truly random. There is an algorithm being used but a player cant necessarily affect the outcome in a meaningful way.

Am I missing something here? How do you see your friend (or another player) get any weapon from a lockbox? The weapon is only on that players screen who received it? correct? What am I missing?

I'd say I've opened about 10-15 lockboxes so far. I've only bought Tier 4 boxes, though, but still... Am I really that lucky, or are you just that unlucky?

hmmmm.......... i bought tier-3 box almost 20 times , got almost 60 items but never got an orange grade >..<

The last 4 boxes I bought did not even have any purple weapons. To behonest I've stopped buying boxes because at this rate I would find 4 leaf clover under a rainbow before I get a purple, let alone an orange...

Let me guess, you dont chat while playing?? If you have Friend Notifications turned on in the settings, you will see when people from your friends list receives a legendary, or atleast sometimes you will see. In the chat window it says sumfin like "Legendary! Hudson received a FRC SAW"
