Great... Now I can expect to not get any more oranges for the rest of my playtime, because no one is that lucky for long.

Allow me to clear this up. The moment you buy the lockbox the gear is determined if one of the items is a legendary it will at times show up for clan/friends in the chat window. So, for instance I buy a lockbox and i see a Green pop out first it might show in a clan/friends chat I pulled a legendary. The next item could be blue, followed by the Legendary they saw, and ending with another green. It doesn't work every time I pulled 3 legendary weapons yesterday and clan/friends only saw me actually pull 1 of them in chat.

Really? I've played for about a week and I'm just about over EGO 1000, but I've already gotten 3 legendaries. The first one came from one of the first lockboxes I opened. I'd say I've opened about 10-15 lockboxes so far. I've only bought Tier 4 boxes, though, but still... Am I really that lucky, or are you just that unlucky?

I know one guy that was at 3400 and had not gotten an orange yet. I got one at 106 but didn't see another until 2600 and I was constantly getting lockboxes. One weekend I got over 300 boxes and no oranges, a few purples, blues and lots of greens, mostly sniper rifles. And yet I know of people that get an orange almost every day, some get several from repeatedly buying the boxes (with keycodes).

Some say buy tier 4, other tier 3, and so on. I've now got a number of oranges but not enough from lockboxes to be able to say anything for certain. I've only ever gotten one from anything but a tier 2 and believe me I've gotten a lot of every type of box. I've gone through millions in scrip and salvage in weapons.

As one poster said it isn't random but is meant to appear so. It's kind of like a slot machine as far as randomness goes. I do think this is so that the game controls the rarity of any item that makes it into play so it can't be random.

You never noticed that when an item in vendors expires you can see a list of weapons cycling very fast and then it stops in one weapon.

Same for lockboxes... there is a huge list of items and each lockbox moves the list down...

Now i only buy tier 2, 90% of my oranges came from tier 2...

over text chat. a friend was with me when I pulled a pyronade and he asked
"can I buy that pyronade?" I was shocked and asked "how did you know?"
he replied "when you pulled it, the nade showed up in group chat!"
so that is how they know and so you know it does not show you this notice.
only others can see it.
