Game isn't your typical mmorpg where somebody at higher level is light years beyond you. A 1 hour old character can easily kill a ego 5000 player in pvp for example. All higher level does is give you more perks and the higher level weps pretty much ony get upgrades in the form of nano effects like fire dmg bio dmg etc and things like more ammo in a clip less recoil etc...

@ People saying that there is no "starting area", that is simply not true. As you advance in EGO levels, you get access to different kinds of weapons(bouncy launchers, for example). In addition to Perks, it becomes increasingly easier to dispatch Mutants in Mount Tam. There is a progression of sorts, though I'd say it kind of plateaus once you hit 99ers/Dark Matter.
Its simple really its to curve these so called elite players from taking a foot hold in this game. And wanting to you have so and so gear before you can group with them to run missions. Everyone will be on = ground so in the end it will be about skill not how fast you can spam a epic roocket launcher. But dont get me wrong higher level gear and so on will give bonus on a maxed exp weapon.
Ugh, I hope it isn't like that. I think they are going overboard with the whole EGO 1 being able to kill an EGO 5000. They should really differentiate PvE and PvP so we can get better stats in PvE and feel more powerful. If not, the game is gonna be VERY repetitive because we never get anymore powerful then EGO 1.
When they update the game in the future, I really hope this is what they focus on. Making characters feel more powerful at higher EGO ratings and adding more loot with more powerful stats than just +1 rate of fire or +5 ammo clip, AKA /yawn.
