I was more thinking of the post apocalyptic style, where governments have fallen and militias have sprung up, not the whole Alien etc thing.
The show had me piqued at the beginning tbh, it's not a slow build up to the major event, it happens straight off the bat, what follows is set 15 years afterwards and a lot has changed, such as the American flag being outlawed as a mark of terrorists.
In fact when thinking about the whole dynamic of the show it made me think it was written by a republican who was worried about Obama outlawing fire arms, especially when the first villain you encounter bears a resemblance to president Obama and has a way with words to.
