LMGS are supposed to be suppressive fire weapons, basically an "assault rifle" with a larger "magazine" (usually belt fed using a drum) there should never be a forced burst fire lmg... Ever... Rifles on the other hand yes. They use the same ammunition, why is the damage different? Does the gun type magically increase the powder charge? Does it change the ammunition to hollow points? And the 50 cal is a heavy anti vehicle machine gun, no one could even fire one without AT LEAST a tripod mounting.

If they used magnetic coils and ferrous cored rounds, that would be one thing, but...

although, admittedly, there is very little use for suppressive fire weaponry in Defiance.

    and 50 cal FTW!

Exactly, which is why I question the implementation of LMGS in the first place. Basically with no need for suppressive fire it equates to just an assault rifle on steroids. The problem here is that either it makes assault rifles pointless or LMGS pointless beyond any aesthetic desire. Personally what I would have done is make all assault rifles burst fire or semi automatic and modifiable to be full auto, then have all LMGS be fully automatic with heavy recoil and bloom. Just as a broad generalization, if it were up to me the whole thing would be totally different to be honest, I won't waste time explaining it all here though.

    My thoughts exactly

we'd pay for fuel, ammo, and repairs

and there'd be more of a role to weapons, like increased aggro from LMGs

Agreed, there isn't enough challenge in the game, and I don't mean combat. From point A(tranquility road)to point B (fort defiance) its just a matter of run, shoot, drive, hold X applied as needed. Scrip isn't used for ANYTHING but guns, shields, grenades, mods, and cars, oh and the incredibly rare "extraction"(does my ego call me a taxi?) making the economy weak. I don't have any illusions about these things ever being realized, but it's nice to think of what might have been.

ok, right, and im not disagreeing with that at all.

They don't need JUST a DMG buff, they need an EVERYTHING buff...(except the thunder, it just needs a DMG buff, everything else is cool)

Rockers are forced bust shot as well...the +1 burst mag doesn't even work for it...the guns are beyond terrible....

ONLY the SAW is good...and that's all there is too it....

I like the one that gets more accurate as it fires

but they shouldn't neccisarily have more damage than ARs.

LMGs don't use bigger rounds, they usually just have higher fire rates and large magazines.

both ARs and LMGs need accuracy boosts. That's pretty much it. That would help a lot of guns seem less useless.

would help with PvP variety as well

But they also have a greater length of the barrel. In the long barrel, the powder gases has longer affect on the bullet, increasing its initial velocity.

In any case, the LMG is need to be buffed. I'm not talking about the saw, I'm talking about the others. I tried to use them and they are very unpleasant and even ridiculous.

Actually, the muzzle velocity between an assault rifle and lmg is pretty much the same. m16 is roughly 930m/s while an m60 is about 850m/s

    so there goes that theory...

It really depends on how much you wanted the lmgs to be boosted. I think around 300 would be too much, but 250 for most (the non burst ones anyways) wouldn't be too out of place.
