A LOT of NEW people that NEVER played an MMO

Any game that has multiplayers regardless of the platform will always have people wanting to do their own thing. Pretty sure the key element of an MMO of this nature is to play the game the way you want to.

Perhaps the PC brigade in this thread would like to submit a list of perks I am allowed to spend ego points on or weapons I am allowed to use?

this is a tps first and mmo second. that being said i have never played a mmo before, although i have wanted to. i mostly play fps/tps games. i think it will be interesting to see how the 2 groups work together. 1 group being primarily mmo players and 1 being tps/fps players who like me have never crossed over. it should be fun to watch different playstyles

It is As I've understood it, a EGO rank 1 can kill an EGO rank 5000 player - it all comes down to skills.

This thread isnt supposed to be about who games better at all SO STOP THE DERAILMENT. I ONLY posted this thread to state that alot of console gamers arent used to the MMO game server setup and that i was irritated with people raging that they cant play the game yet. thats it..lets stay on topic please

In the quote above, he talks about staying on topic and such, yet on page 2, he goes on about "COD Fanbois" (WTF is fanbois?) - but hold on, Page 3, once again he is tired of these "COD Fanbois", yet not tired of talking about them. THEN , page 4, He says something along the lines of, "While not all of them, MOST console players don't use mics/ teamwork/ holdmyhandpl0x." You obviously know most console players then right, Rush?

Then Page 5, you have the balls to tell other people the quote above... Wow.. Yeh you PC gamers must be real fun to play with... Oh not all of you PC gamers, Just most of you...

as a PC'r with yrs of MMO behind me , can understand where the op was going

BUT, the tone is off.

This is my 1st shooter and expect some leeway in understanding from console shooter people so will give leeway to them in merging with an MMO

It is a merger of the shooter and MMO worlds so both sides PC vs Console...shooter vs non shooter etc are all going to be learning and growing together along with the game

OBVIOUS!! because all you've been doing for the last 2 days is complain or rage about how you cant log in and play even after getting your copy in the mail..THE GAME IS RUN ON SERVERS! its not stand alone. It would defeat the purpose of calling it an MMO! SO JUST WAIT lol. They will turn the servers on on april 2nd no sooner! Just because you have a copy of the game, doesn't mean a dam thing lol. Enjoy your weekend like the rest of us and get some rest. Come launch day your going to need all your energy xD

We had the same problem when DCUO launched on the PS3, somehow, people who considered themselves gamers had no concept of what an MMO was or how it might be different from any other type of online multiplayer game. Personally, I might be a console only player but it only took me 1 day of playing FF XI at launch to realize there were things I needed to learn and I imagine there will be other people who have similar moments of revelation soon after starting.

For those that don't it's most likely because Defiance (like DCUO) doesn't make it ridiculously, incredibly clear that it is anything other than what it appears to be and many people will not learn very quickly. The solution, of course, is incredibly simple: teach people.

What is required is for some enterprising individuals to take the time to make tutorial videos and post them in threads on forums like this showing people how the perk system actually works to customize a character's role, and then how different roles fit together in a group setting. After that we need to differentiate between PVE and PVP loadouts and tactics and eventually people will learn.

As people who are unfamiliar with MMOs come to the forums to complain, they will see the sticky threads containing the information mentioned above or be directed to it from their own complaint threads and soon enough the people that understand how the game is designed to be played will outnumber those that don't.

now im speaking Jibberish? I'm pretty sure i was very CLEAR about what i said. All i was saying was for the new gamers who arent familiar with how MMO SEVERS WORK, is to calm down and wait like the rest of us. you sir are trolling. and adding fuel to the fire xD
