They won't be using either of those. From a livestream Elizabeth said they were going to be using an in house system of monitoring.

If you can manage it in-house security/prevention is way better than pb & nguard.

and player reporting and seeing as the game costs something it wouldn;t be profitable for people to use bots and lose the account...gw2 solved most of the boting problems with that method

Also there's no real infrastructure for an economy so i doubt there are lot of bots lining up to farm scrip. However for anti-hack they're talking about aimbots, etc.

Hacking wont be a problem, you may get the odd person, but if the community watches it they will be dealt with swiftly.
Would be worse if the game was straight up f2p but you have to pay money first, less reason for people to risk hacking.

punkbuster is more effective at irritating legit players with false positives and totally erroneous kicks and bans than it is at stopping hackers... the latter of which the games it is attached to are often known for their high number of hackers.

nguard is about as sueful as gameguard, which is to say every tome **** and harry hack dev bypasses them and any updates to them within minutes of the patch going live, while randomly locking out people due to conflicts with legit software.


nothing, and i mean nothing, is more effective than proper tools for live human monitoring. but live monitoring without proper training often leads to some epic lulz, such as was the case in swtor.
