Pff, please, what do we own PCs for? With no permission to set or adjust anti-aliasing settings, texture-LOD, show an OSD with system information, one could just as well play on one of these consoles. Being told what we may or may not do is not why we got PCs.

Besides, the software running on my PC is like a guest in my home. The guest better not try to boss me around, or he gets the boot faster than he can realize. But that doesn't mean we can be disrespectful to out guests. Some common sense and ground have to be found.

I remember Punk Buster for CoD1. Haven't seen it since, but it seemed to work back in the day.

Well the built in Aimbot still worked on the beta event for me, so if thats still enabled everyone's going to be reported as illegal aimboters.

You're attempting to introduce factors that have nothing to do with what I mentioned. Sweetfx has nothing to do with altering the graphics so your avatar can appear like a cat, so your argument is irrelevant. I was not talking about replacing graphics, I was talking about altering graphic settings, I mean I did mention sweetFX so it should've been obvious what I was talking about.

IDK what that other guy is talking about but sweetfx can make invisible character bright pink or something which is why it won't be allowed in this game that and it's a injector which is view by anti hack systems as a hack.

sweetfx does not modify your graphics. it's an injector. that is a totally different animal from what what originally stated, which was:

albeit i missed where you mentioned sweetfx, but sweetfx is NOT a graphics mod. a MOD adds additional files and/or changes the core files of the game. sweetfx does not do this. it's is not a mod, it's an injector. it's unlikely they will care about an injector. but they WILL care about a MOD

if sweetfx can be used in such a way as to make a cloaked person in pvp perfectly visible then no, that would not be allowed. no mmo would allow it. that's not much different from the aimbots that show you where everyone is on screen via little boxes around their avatars.

Punk Buster is a useless piece of software. APB uses that crap and they are still plagued with aim-bots galore. I seriously hope if not soon, then after launch that Trion gets Syfy to foot the bill and get them some decent anti-hack/cheat software pronto.

Because the cheating in APB was one of the main reasons that killed the popularity of that game and would hate to see it happen to Defiance.

I definitely will not be using Shadow Wars until Trion gets the issue handled. There are plenty of MMOs out there that don't have this issue, so it's not impossible.

Both of those anti-hack services are equally useless.

I have to agree; although I am not as familiar with NProtect, Punk Buster I have always found to be virtually useless.
