Translation: If I were you, I would have chosen STEAM. The problem is, in our country (denmark), monday is a bank/shop holiday, meaning that Gamestop will be closed. Therefore I suggest to buy through STEAM now, and then cancel his preorder at gamestop, on tuesday.

It could be worse...I made the mistake of following the link from the Trion website to Zavvi.com and chose to buy there because it was the cheapest...not bothered about ingame pre-order bonuses as from many previous mmo's I realised all that stuff is useless pretty early in the game.

So everything goes OK..I pay for it and get a confirmation email....then another email saying it has been dispatched.

DISPATCHED? I ordered a digital copy....so I email them,tweet the,facebook them,use thier own website based customer service and absolute silence from them.

Two days later and still nothing....cant even cancel it as the status of the order says dispatched.

Will NEVER use that site again and strongly reccomend you don't either.

Physical media won't disappear because there are those of us who actually enjoy having a collection on the shelf.

With a Gamestop pre-order, your order receipt is not "proof of purchase." You have declared you will buy the copy from them, but until you actually receive your game, you have not "bought" it yet. It's a frustrating form for physical purchasers that's been that way for years. I personally have an Ultimate Edition on order in my store as I do want the physical swag, and I like have a shelf collection.

And a lot of people love Steam, but I have physical copies of PC games that I bought and they have locked me out of my accounts time and time again. I have the discs with serial keys all stored and can't play any of them. There was a period of time where I was without a computer for about a year when moving to a different country. I also ended up opening a new email address and expanding. When I finally got back to it, I couldn't remember the log-in info and they refused me any support.

Some places writes it as "dispatched" when its available for download. Have you checked if you can D/L it somewhere? Or find the CD key?

just so you know when it comes to mmo's there's absolutely no advantage to getting a physical copy.

quite often the data on disc is completely obsolete within weeks to a few months of launch, and generally still requires a big download going into launch.

there's also generally no fluff in non $150 type CE boxes anymore. no maps, no manual, no bonus discs or anything that's worth collecting. the fluff only comes in those over priced boxes.

this is correct and why the cataclysm collectors edition became my last boxed mmo copy. (i do have the swtor CE but i won that from a gamestop store raffle when i worked there)

sure i got my game at midnight. i then had to install and patch. the digital pre order players had been in the game the minute the servers opened at midnight.

if you are waiting for a boxed copy of the pc version you won't be in until sometime tuesday, while the rest of us will start at what ends up being 9pm my time monday evening

i'm also tired of losing discs
