I ask the clerk, where is my pre-order code? He says, It's in the box with your game.
Me, 'you don't have the codes on flyers or cards?' Clerk, 'There might be flyers but we haven't received any yet.'
Me, 'is there a different product I can order today that comes with a pre-order code? Like Defiance - Preorder instead of Defiance - PC? Clerk, Nope, sorry.
Me, 'Is there anyway I can get my Defiance pre-order code today? Clerk, 'Sorry, Sir'.
Me, OK. Thanks for your time. Clerk, We'll call you when we get the game in.

Note the games haven't arrived yet nor have any of the pre-order codes.

This store KNOWS how to handle pre-orders, I have personally pre-ordered several MMOs from them, including: Age of Conan, Warhammer, RIFT, SWTOR, The Secret World, GW2, and now Defiance. They have had different systems to deliver codes with these various games, sometimes on little cards, sometimes on flyer inside an empty game case, sometimes just a printout from Store HQ.

This is the first time I've been unable to get a code before the launch date. I'm pretty sure it's because GameStop doesn't have em. It's almost as if you can NOT get the codes from a retail store until you get the physical box. (Yes, know that some US retailers print em on the receipt but that's the system in Denmark. I did try another store, same deal.

My only option to start at launch seems to be a digital download. I prefer the physical copy, so I'll just start later when the boxes arrive.
You should have bought digital instead. Anyways, Norway is so much better haha

    Chapter 2.
OK, I decided I WOULD not miss out on the craziness of the first minutes of launch so...
I bought a digital download today from www.gameliebe.com Got a sweet deal, they have an Easter Sale so it only cost 195 DKK, 25 EUR. I received an email confirming my order in a few seconds and another email with my pre-order code in less than 5 minutes. All good service.

I applied the code to my Trion account and sure enough, it says pre-order. I try to launch the patcher and it says my account is not entitled... I uninstall defiance, remove the folder, relaunch the patcher with the same message. I try the tricks about changing my email addy, unsign snf re sign up for the newletter etc, no joy, still not entitled.

    So I call gameliebe:
Me: Today I ordered Defiance - PC. My order # XXXXXX.
I received an email with a pre-order code and entered it at Trion's site. But they won't enable me to download from them without a CD key, not just a pre-order code. Can I download from your site?
GL: You must download it from Trion.
Me: OK, can I get the CD key from you? The game launches in a few hours and I don't to miss the start.
GL: There is only the one code. It's the beta code and the game code.
Me: Thank you for your help.

Then I email Trion CS to try to get my account entitled. I receive back a quick acknowledgement:

Your question has been received. You should expect a response from us within 24 hours.

I KNOW this is just boilerplate and they may well get back to me quicker but... I've bought a second game to try an ensure a first minute start. 24 hours from now I will have just returned from the store with the physical copy.

So, the next step is to use live chat. Of course they don't open until 8 AM Texas time so I have 5 hours to wait. In the mean time, the download window is slipping away.

Why didn't you use Live Chat to start instead of doing all of the unnecessary run around? There's been enough topics on this already (some of which you've commented on) that it wouldn't take any leap of intellect to do that.

He's had nothing but trouble. It's almost like a pre-order drama in which I've associated him specifically. I've purchased 3 different copies of the Digital Deluxe edition and all of them activated fine. (1 for me, 1 for girlfriend, 1 for friend). It sounds more complicated than it has to be indeed...

I have Alpha and beta also attached to this same account. I can't imagine THAT is the issue however Just because my account was entitled for Alpha didn't stop it from becoming Beta entitled...

I'm gonna go blast some mutant marines while I wait for 8AM Texas time.

Did you (again maybe) uninstall and delete the folder for Defiance, then try changing your password on your Trion account, exit your Trion account, then go back into your Trion account again and checking under Manage Games > Defiance (not the beta if it's still listed there), and download the new non beta patcher (the "Client")? You should be able to do that, the option to do so should be there. I don't think it worked when I tried to use the same patcher that I used with Beta. Sincerely hope that helps you.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I tried that too (with no help). I have 13 copies of the patcher on my disk now I have re downloaded it so many times. The Beta link is no longer there BTW.

Then the only thing I've done differently than you is, to avoid potential system security permission write to disk errors, not allow it to install where it wanted to but instead to the root of my drive in a folder all of its own. I've had issues with programs wanting to install either to my
    "C:\Users\(CompLoginName)\AppData\Roaming\" pathing and to the
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\" or the ""C:\Program Files\" path
even though I've logged into the comp as an administrator.

The not entitled error message is really odd. I bought the game on steam during the beta. When downloading the launcher from Trion despite all my changing passwords and what not, I couldn't get it to patch.

Then I just fired up my patcher from the steam application directory and it worked fine. /shrug
