As a 1.6 counter strike player more than a decade ago, I can only say this, bunny hop works. And if you think I'm wrong, then you don't really have anything to lose since I'm digging my own grave right?

And if you keep saying it is brothering you aesthetically, then it is bothering me gameplay wise if I cannot play as I wish. Since gameplay is more important that aesthetics and there appears to be more people supporting "hopping" and maintaining status quo frees up development time for other features, I would say this discussion is a victory for the old school players.

I'm honestly in the park where if you bunnyhop, you can't shoot. This is how it should be. As of now this is my main reason of dying is because the target runs up into my face (pretty easy considering the sizes of the two TDM maps we have) and starts hopping like an idiot while I shoot at the person's legs the moment I was aiming at the chest. Or miss completely.

Then again, it wouldn't also be that big of an issue if you could just HIGHER THEN A PERSON (hence me missing completely)

So yeah, my two cents. Either you can't fire while jumping, or you can't jump as high. And seeing as how the game world has been designed around the player being able to jump this high, I only see the former changing, if anything changes at all.
I hope it does, because right now, the only reason I go into TDM is to do the damn contracts and it is infuriatingly annoying.

I honestly can't understand just how over the top the jump ability is in the game. Last I checked this game takes place on earth, and not everyone's an Olympic level athlete (unless EGO grants us abilities that defy gravity)

Since we take zero fall damage ... it is not outside the realm of possibility that EGO implants gain a small measure of telekinetic abilities.

Bah I joking. The jump height is for gameplay reasons, if you have ever fallen into water, you would know how hard it is to actually climb out of it in most places.

Honestly, if you're having issues with people bunny hopping it's a skill thing, you need to get better.

Granted this is more of an issue on console than it is on PC, mouse movement will always be easier to track people with unpredictable movement.

Though I'm an old Quake player, I'm used to bunny hoppers (as it used to actually make you faster) and "skiing" from Tribes. I don't really mind people doing it as it's usually just shotgunners doing it at point blank range, which most of the time will usually result in me dying if it's the stealth/shotty combo, too much alpha damage to recover from and I'm totally fine with that.

Too many people screaming "NURRF X! X IS TOO STRONG! Y is fine thanx", where X is something they've never tried and Y is the only setup they use.... le sigh. :/

Why do supporters of the hopping always think it's a skill issue?

It's not a skill issue. It's a "you're making the gameplay on my monitor look stupid by spamming that horribly floaty animation" issue. It's the exact same issue that prevents marketing from every using footage of said hop-spamming in one of their promotional trailers.. because, you know.. you don't want stupid looking stuff in the trailer of the game you're trying to promote.

I have the same kind of desire when I play the game.. I don't want stupid looking stuff on the screen. And.. man.. that hopping looks stupid.

Blame the animators if you want. Had they created several iterations of Matrix-style jumping and cartwheeling animations while firing your weapons, I would be all for people spamming that jump button while fighting. But they didn't. The hop is you tucking your legs up under your body and pointing your weapon forward. It's comical. People are spending real money buying outfits to look as cool as possible and then they do.. that.

It's like sipping a drink through a straw.. you just don't look cool while doing it.

Oh don't get me wrong, it does look completely daft but in terms of actual combat the reason to do it is because it makes you harder to hit, ergo, requiring more "skill" to kill you which sadly also comes in the form of getting added benefit due to lag and bad animations.

Personally I still think it's fine as the only time to do it is in PvP when you're within a few meters of your target because of the aim penalty for jumping.

bunny hopping is pathetic. It may have been a thing in FPS-gaming like CS for a long time and it wasn't nearly as op in CS. In defiance it's pathetic when people jump with infectors like bunch of idiots. with infector you don't even need to aim so well if you want to hit someone and it's a bit harder to hit the player when he's jumping. Anyways... The only weapon I REALLY hate that the jumpers use, is the infector(and maybe some detonators)... pretty much all the other weapons are dodgeable/counter-able.... the jumping in Defiance is simply childish... I Simply can't enjoy the PvP until something is done about the jumping and some balancing... Sometimes I don't even bother to do the Competitive Contracts and I still have some Competitive goals to do. Competitive/Shadow War is the worst thing in the game at the moment.

It's obvious everyone here telling the OP things like "learn to play" are console players. It's not an uncommon tactic for the kiddies to employ so they will slam you for asking about it.
